Sometimes you just have to be relentless

Hello there, I am a regular 3.5 yr exp web dev. I joined Grapevine, just to express my inner thoughts and it's much better to be anonymous. I got stuck in a void !!! Rn what I a getting is much less as per my experience. The daily routine seriously makes me feel I am a worthless and unskilled person. The type of person who if quits his job will never find another all because I am not good at anything. The main fight is I want to switch to some PM or consultant role but I am filled up with self-doubt and scared of thinking that I am unskilled regular labour, who has somehow gotten into IT... Whether you call it self doubt/laziness /indiscipline things are not helping me to grow and crack a new job with a better daily routine. Appreciate your suggestion/feedback. But please help me and suggest to me how can I get into a technical consultant or any managerial role.

I’m dumbfounded when the best piece of advice I hear is that its a numbers game and probability is supreme. There’s got to be a strategy that one applies to shortlist from the ocean of offers out there. - applying in the same domain as your current company? - platform or regions where recruiters are more active? - directly talking to freelance HMs and doing a deal? If no hack, just share what worked for you? And how are you optimising the job searching?

Hey all, I feel so shit at the moment. I’ve failed 8-10 interviews so far, out of job since a year. It seems like every interview they ask a totally different set of questions or scenarios. Whatever I prepare gets me maybe 50-60% of the way, rest are all new questions and I fuck up or I’m not able to fully give them an answer. What makes me feel even worse is that, lot of people aren’t even getting calls at the moment and here I am speed-running every single opportunity to failure. I’m so done at the moment. No idea how to proceed or what to prep.

Such a society we live in wheee people are given preferences on their job and titles( company name and college name) etc ) and in the start up space this is too much. So founders assume someone from a different experience can’t do the job based on what ? If someone wasn’t given an opportunity for once how can a decision be made ? They only want fell top schools top companies. Look at the US and learn , seen people with diverse backgrounds been given an opportunity in fields of unknown knowledge and they have been able to achieve and do well. But these start ups here only care for branded names , but boast about diversity etc and anyone with passion please reach out to us if want to shape the future of India) bs) and when you reach out they don’t care to reply . You are just starting and you can atleast reply . Start ups okay with paying some analyst with good package but can’t pay some one else who ants to work and learn for a lower package .

So I am currently working in a big 4 firm. Main work is on databricks and snowflake. I wanna switch my job but only have 1 year of experience. Now asking what should I do? I kinda hate my current job. Dev work is less mostly is just supporting other team members

I am in my 3rd year (BE) . Unfortunately got tier-3 college. Was very ambitious regardless of the situation ,wanted to crack FAANG or any big thing. Started Learning from the first year itself while others were just enjoying . Was working very hard . Did some DSA . Did some full stack web-dev . College is super bad so relied on yt for roadmap and advice(No didi bhaiyas specifically) .There is literally sooo much to do dsa, dev , cp in just 4 year where i have to search the way out and learn while college bullshit (attendence , cgpa). Now everything seems worthless. All my efforts are all in vain. All are on the same pedestral now. No one is getting anywhere. NO INTERNSHIP ,, i could see myself getting 4-5 lpa after this grind in the end. Well in the end I have to accept the fate that I am mediocre.

I am a final year CS student and will be graduating this June. In my first and second year I used to code like 9 to 10 hours a day and learn new skills and thanks to that I was able to grep an internship in start of 6th sem and since then I am doing internships and its been 1.5 years and I have done 2 internships, one as an backend developer for 6 months and another as an ML Engineer for 10 months and I am still interning over here and I have learned a lot and have worked on many amazing projects, now the problem is my current company told that they will give me full time offer if they receive the funding in April or may and HR told me to consider this as no and now the CEO of my previous internship called me and asked me if I am willing to join there for full time and I told him I am waiting for the offer from here and he told me that he will try to match the offer but I don't want to join the older company as there the culture is toxic and I also don't have other offer to negotiate as I did not sit for on campus placement as I am getting paid more as an intern(50k per month) then the full time offers the companies are giving on campus. Now in 2 months I will be graduating and still I don't have full time offer and now I feel like all the sacrifices I made in my first and second year went in vain, all the hard work, consistency, missing parties and trips all these things now makes me sad, where did I went wrong and what should I do now?

Today, I had an interview for a job as a software developer. The person interviewing me started by asking if I could speak Hindi. I told him I could understand it but wasn't good at talking because I'm from South India. He gave me a mean smile, which made me feel really unsure of myself right away. 😔 We went on with the interview. He asked a question that was kind of a design question, and when I tried to answer, he didn't really listen. Even when I asked him some questions, he didn't give a good answer. He was busy with his phone, and it seemed like he wanted to say no to me. I'm feeling pretty down about it. 😞 I don't get why he acted like that, but now I feel dumb after doing the interview.
