Switched job few months back, now the comp doesn’t feel reasonable
Hi, switched job 3 months back on ~50% hike (on paper). First couple of months felt okey as I was paid the joining bonus and notice period buyout. It was hard to understand what’s my actual in-hand per month salary and taxes are. Now with the third month salary I realised it’s nominal take home hike from my last job as I crossed 50 lacs taxable income and liable to pay surcharge too. On the other hand, I have been hiring for a level down and got better sense of internal comp play as management is okey making exceptions. I feel like I was low balled and deserve better. What are the options apart from starting to look out and switch.
The classic solution to lowballing is to get a higher paying counter offer (ideally more than 1) and be in the position of decision-making.
You can then share your concerns with CityMall without sharing your counter offers to see their genuine reaction to the situation. If it isn't good enough, you can explore the counter offers.
Why not use your counter offer to trigger retention discussions? Because it practically makes the work environment toxic and gets you labelled as a "flight risk" in the eyes of your management.
This is what I've done before and went with the counter offer.
What’s the ₹ difference in inhand? What was ur previous fixed ? Do u not see any benefit in ur job other than money?
