The part about normalised is pure fiction

No, it's not fiction. It's indeed very common in large cities. l've seen so many all my life, among extended family, friend circle, and coworkers.
Maybe you need to become more socially aware and perceptive, to be able to notice the signs.
I've always had the intuitive ability to spot, even from my childhood, who are the people around me , who're having an affair together - from noticing their mutual chemistry and body language. And I always got proven correct later when the thing blew up and became a known scandal. ๐

You need to start coaching others to spot too.

There can be multiple factors ranging from quid pro quo to get into the trap of sab kuch try karo in life.
Sometimes people have been in arranged marriages with no chemistry, sometimes regardless of the marriage type (arranged or love) there's no spark left.
Now rather than trying to make the chemistry better or re-ignite the spark, people go for what seems easy to them as no one wants to put those efforts.
And unfortunately still a majority section of the society considers divorce as Taboo.
Sometimes people still stay just because of kids thinking it would be good for kids but that's the biggest blunder they are making and getting separated would not impact kids as badly as compulsorily stretching and staying in the marriage.
It is actually normalised, but don't know why people even do it. How does their conscience even allow !! Such a pathetic thing to happen to the other person who doesn't realise their partner is onto something.

I don't think it's normalised yet.
Rest of the things I agree with you.
