I have no money to go for higher studies can’t take the risk that can hang my live to nowhere.

Overview: 
Everyone around me, be it old school friends to the people in the bangalore startup ecosystem are planning to or already in the process of doing an MBA. 

What is happening:
Most of the people I know, either are going for a tier 1 MBA in India or colleges like “Carnegie Mellon”/ “INSEAD”/ “NUS” these are really good places. 

Why am I concerned:
I dont have great acade, GEM candidate so I have decided to not pursue CAT at all, and MBA outside India is too expensive. 

I feel like my job and career are going fine with 4 years of professional experience I am making 25LPA in marketing. I am not keen on doing an MBA but I dont want to regret later.

I consider myself to be fairly smart but what happens when I am competing with people who have great brand names on their resume and are actually smart. 

People on GV with more experience, have you gone through this struggle? 


Sidenote: I also have friends who have cleared IIM ABC, ISB and not gone, because they just wanted the admit letter. Which is brave lol!

Will an MBA destroy your life or make it better?

I have seen a lot of questions here about how to become rich or successful. I initially thought I could make a course and shill it on LinkedIn, but then I decided against it. 
Context is: I work in a field where most around me are making a lot of money, and typically everyone's a crorepati by 26/27. That's what I have seen. 

Their secrets: 
1. They work 12+ hours a day consistently for 5 days a week, and then some more on Saturday (sometimes Sunday). Even at the peak of covid, when everybody was scared and would avoid working, these fuckers would.
2. They are ultra competitive. They will compete on anything, not just work. They are addicted to poker. They will debate anything during lunch time, no matter how frivolous it is. Pure TYPE A folks.
3. They never complain about working hard. It's just second nature for them. Stems from IIT/IIM days, but continues. They don't question it. (I do, because I am not them) 
4. They obsess over money. They constantly try to figure out where they can make more money. All invest actively. 
5. They are incredibly well read. Can speak at length on any topic. They truly love going deep into a topic and coming out with the crux of it (or so they may think). 

Now I know one thing. These are very obvious things. Everybody knows if you do this, you probably would become successful. 
But my takeaway is to do it. It's super difficult. But at my age, I have no option but to not try, now that I have seen how its done.

Most people I work with are worth 1Cr+ after 25. I have figured their secret 😛

Doesn't seem worth it though. Maybe until you get into an expertise in your field, you should strive for point 1. Beyond that, I wouldn't recommend. 
  
 Money isn't the most important thing in the world.  Maybe it is for some folks, good for them

I completed education from tier 1 colleges (MBA and Engineering both from coveted IIM and IIT). After MBA, I joined Wall Street bank and life was really good. Was enjoying the perks of a MNC although the work was also excruciating but was an overall good experience.

Left it for a startup (fast growth kida in me led this decision). Worked in the startup across multiple roles, learned a lot of new things. Tried staying away from office politics and earned a good name in the circle. But growth (read pay) was not that enticing and was not growing hence decided to leave. Was naive enough to quote this reason to business head and HR as well. Obviously it didn't go well with anyone.

Joined startup2, changed cities and joined it. The role was similar, although my manager was an epitome of a toxic manager. Was doing good but he always was able to find some or the other mistake in my work. If he would not find any mistake then he would suggest some tangential hypothesis and then reprimand me for not thinking about it. Was so toxic that I didn't take leave when my wife was hospitalized and giving birth to our child.
Tried doing everything possible but couldn't save the job and got laid off in the 1st lay off wave.

Was shattered. Confidence was at rock bottom. Tried searching for roles. Luckily I got into startup3 who had remote work at that time. Although I joined the marketing team (which was not at all related to my previous work) thus creating a mess of my profile.
Worked hard but in a "restructuring" exercise got laid off again.

Within a year 2 lay offs with random work and no concrete direction in work. 
Now searching for roles but not able to find anything suitable as I was in non-core roles and in this difficult time everyone is looking for cheap resources with 1-3 yoe and not looking for 7+ yoe with generalist profile.

Contemplating starting from zero in Marketing or learning coding/Data science so that can start my career again with right basics.

Guys,
I have 8 years of IT experience out of which , 2.5 in azure. I got a call from Capegemni HR , saying there's an azure opening, asked for my current and expected CTC. I said the current is 7 LPA and expected is 20 LPA. It's a hybrid role with 3 days working from the office. She said it is not possible, Max they can give is 10-13. I am in Kerala,and have a baby under 1. I have to relocate if I get it. I don't think it is fair salary.

Is it ok if we don't tell when they're asking for our current salary based on which they will give max 100% if we perform exceptionally in the interview.

Or how can I deal this?
