I am an engineer and have been working remotely since the pandemic started. Initially, it was great as I could save time by not commuting to office but now I feel like I am missing out on something.

I don't know what it is but I just feel like I need to be in an office environment to thrive. Maybe it's the social aspect or the structure of having set hours, but whatever it is, I can't seem to find the same level of motivation when working from home.

Anyone else feeling this way? Any tips on how to make remote work more productive and enjoyable?

Don't know whether we should be happy or sad after hearing this

I currently have a job where I can be laid off anytime. I started attending interviews with other companies. To my luck I got selected in a company, interviews were done and final documents were submitted. HR said only the offer discussion round is pending. He said it will be done on Thursday but no response. I followed up on Thursday. He said Friday for sure and no response on Friday too.

 What should I do now ?

A potential Secondment at a MNC Client was pitched to a friend of mine by his employer (also a MNC), about which he was very excited. In his current role, he's due to become Manager in 6 months (giving him a 38% hike), however none of his Bosses have given him any assurance to the effect that the promotion will be granted, but still he's confident that he shall get promoted. His name was proposed to the Client for the Secondment, and he cleared technical interview rounds with the Client's team. The JD shared by Client which position was being filled by Secondment is of AVP with my friend meeting the experience level sought by the Client. The fee proposed by his employer to the Client is 5 times my friend's salary and his ultimate plan was also to transition out from his employer to become a permanent employee at the Client, once the Secondment period of 6 months gets completed. 

Now for reasons best known to the employer and Client, it is looking like the Secondment may not happen after all.
In such a situation, what should be the ideal strategy for the employee (Feel free to comment below and share inputs/insights etc) - Should he approach the MNC directly, offering his services and interest? Or, given that the Client and his employer have an existing relationship, and there's a risk that the Client may notify the employer of the employee's proposal - Should he accept his fate and move on with life? Would your answer change in such a case, if the Client itself seeks out the employee and encourages him to join them? Is there any other option in your opinion by which the employee may secure and not let go of this opportunity?

I  competed interviews with a Seed stage start-up. The interview went well and the VP of Sales let me know they were ready to extend an offer while speaking. After negotiating my salary to a level all parties were comfortable with, I verbally confirmed I would accept and we scheduled a follow-up. The VP told me to rest assured and congratulated me.

On our follow-up, the VP asked if I could wait for two weeks more (at most) for the official offer. The VP said there were some organizational changes in the works that needed to be sorted out, but that they are still bullish on me and I am to be the very next hire if I can wait the up to 14+ days. He assured me he was not pitting other candidates against me, but that he needed more time.

I felt it was odd, given we had discussed my timeline. I have been actively interviewing and now I am hesitant to let my other offers stand idle, even though this opportunity is the one I am most interested in.

I am looking for advice on how to approach this, what I should do regarding other offers vs this offer, and what I should communicate to the company/VP

Context: Worked at a boutique consulting firm this summer and loved it, especially my team and my manager who was very empathetic and caring. Received a PPO.

Problem: Given family financial circumstances (primarily) I had to think beyond my interests and hence sat for placements and received a placement from a much bigger consulting company. I now feel super guilty and do not know what to do. I eventually want to come back to the boutique firm as it specialises in a niche I care about (once family issues sorted).

Question: Is it wise to be fully upfront, first tell my side of the story to my manager asap and reject PPO politely? If not, what is a good way to do it?

TL:DR - How to reject a PPO after accepting it?

Any honest opinion and advice would be highly appreciated. I understand I have put myself in this complicated situation.

Need advice! (PPO + Placement)

When I was doing my masters in economics last year, I met a girl. I was instantly attracted to her, however never got a chance to ask her out. Eventually I did, and we went out a couple of times. I really liked her but I think she considered me a good friend. I got mixed messages from her. Once, she sends me text messages in the middle of the night asking me to take her to lunch tomorrow and another she doesn't reply back to me. Anyway I persisted but eventually she kinda distanced herself from the relationship after we hooked up. I had fallen for her but she wanted no part of anything. Didn't return my calls or texts, or when she did made up excuses to avoid hanging out. 

So I told her how I felt. She was angry at me for ruining our friendship even though we hooked up, which she instigated. I never saw her again for the 3 months( she went to Delhi for some work) but she called me occasionally if she needed to talk or something.

So she left and we remained in touch via Whatsapp. On one occasion, I made a passing joke as to how she spent time with every dude there but me. She became very offended and we stopped communication. She started it up again but didn't apologise.

Finally, I actually visited Delhi because another friend of mine was getting married and invited me. I didn't visit her because of time constraints and she became pissed, and wouldn't talk to me, accusing me of doing it on purpose. That was 6 months ago.

I'm going to a friends birthday soon and she's gonna be there. 

Would it be bad for me to hold the grudge? Or should I just let it go.

Bear in mind, she avoided me whilst hanging out with others and then accuses me of avoiding her.
I don't wanna be a douche but I don't wanna be a pushover, someone who can call me whenever and I'll come running.

Hi,
I recently went on a vacation and informed my manager (CEO) that I won’t be available for a week. He did not say anything but I could sense that he is not happy.
On my vacation, I get his text asking what’s the progress at work? I Informed him about my vacation but he asks me to work for 1-2 hours ON A VACATION (This is when they promised flexibile work policy) I politely decline to which he doesn’t say anything.
Now, when I’m back, he has started to micromanage and says my work is disappointing according to the standards? I could get that he must be unhappy because a few things didn’t go our way. But, his whole behaviour has changed and he has started acting hostile towards me. I try to ignore and carry on with my work but it gets on my nerves sometimes.
Do I continue silently or should I confront? If yes, then how?
