Why is jiocinema so effin horrible to use on Samsung tvs ? Just fix this shit already.

Just wanted to know why and how come our companies have horrible WLB and cultures compared to western counterparts. Is it the fault of the employees for accepting whatever and acting like sheep or is it just the mindset of the senior management to treat their subordinates the same horrible way they were treated as some sort of sick rite of passage ?

Recently whenever I come across any post on GV asking about the culture of a particular company people generally point out it to be toxic... Even in big companies like Swiggy, Upstox etc.
Are there even any good product companies in India with decent TC + WLB + Culture??

Is a toxic workplace becoming a common thing??

I work as a Product manager at a series A well funded startup.
This company is run by a solo founder/CEO.

This is a wannabe tech and product startup that does not care about their product at all. The internal review meetings get 5 minutes on product and 55 minutes on business and operations on a good day!

All they care about is how to run operations and tech just works on automation instead of building the product for the end user. Every OKR cycle runs for two months where OKRs are set for product but we end up building internal tools because things get "re-prioritised" and operations "can not miss targets".

The worst part is that the strategy changes every 2 months and every week, the CEO keeps adding new "wants". Almost like a baby seeing shiny new toys.
At this stage, the product has become a mess with no identity at all!

This baby always says "But is that even do-able" acts critical and tries to seem smart in front of their employees while lying to the investors and board every other week that we are a tech and product company.

I don't know if this happens at other startups in India. 

Would love to hear what y'all have experienced.

You sound like a tech bro, who thinks that only tech runs the world. Huge companies like Tata, reliance etc are built on solid operations and business insights.  
  
 Tech is enabler, if the founder is smart with business and operations, most likely he will make a good business, and unless you start valuing things beyond tech also, you will keep hopping jobs and cribbing why people don’t value you.

Apart from Adobe, MS, what are some companies with great product culture and WLB?
E.g. Zomato, Blinkit, Cars24, CarDekho, Agoda, Lenskart, Winzo, etc.

Please share your own or ex companies experience, if possible.

4. Great benefits in terms of salary, bonuses, talent retention, flexibility on internal movement, great health care.

Best IT Companies in India to work for

Want to know the culture of the company, as on Glassdoor or AmbitionBox it’s mostly negative..

Also since it’s from Hindustan Times, shouldn’t be a crunch on funding for growth.. 

As business on Content/ OTT or Entertainment space, I feel it has time to run.. Unlike edtech or quick commerce which are in bad stage now.

Looking to know more from employees if any or general thoughts what you know.

The worst company to exist from a culture POV. 

- Idiots for managers. People who have been there for years but don’t understand how to manage anything apart from their own egos

- The CEO is quiet most of the times, despite all the claims of wrongdoing happening within his firm

- Terrible paymasters. Denying people their variable pay & bonuses despite their employment agreements clearly stating so. The HR is as useless as the “ueue” at the end of the word queue. 

- No regard for safety & security of their employees when they travel for work. An employee I know is traveling to Delhi for the fashion week and they couldn’t even book her a hotel. She has to figure everything out on her own. In Delhi. 

- Their office smells like shit and can’t even handle all their employees coming into work. They don’t have enough chairs to seat everyone but HR wants to call everyone back to office 5 days a week. 

It’s no surprise that HUL treats them like a stepchild. Nobody wants them, and they’re just about surviving on their own. 

Think twice before working with them in any capacity. Take your money in advance. 

Never work for them.

A generic name for family-run businesses in India, 'lala companies' have unique attributes—great rewards…and greater punishment, if the lala stops liking your face!
What are the key differences between MNCs and Lala companies? One main difference will be the management. MNC's are likely to have more stress on the performance (at least for the selection process) while the management in the other companies (mostly) may be guided by relationships (to the owners) or loyalty.

What are some Top Lala companies to avoid in India? Do share your experiences if you had the misfortune of working in one.

I am trying to switch. It will be my first switch. And have no experience of current work culture or WLB situation in the service based companies or big 4 companies.
