I think sound box was adopted from Chinese payments companies. I remember seeing it in SEA before paytm launched it here.

Who was the person behind the development and launch of Paytm soundbox? I’ve read articles about how Vijay thought it was a break-through idea while waiting for a payment confirmation with a shopkeeper. Is it true?

Hi guys, need your opinion on one of the issue, it’s not any investment thing but i need you help. So we have paytm soundbox machine in our shop , it was working fine till last month and suddenly they imposed restrictions on the total monthly payment which can be done. Previously it was around 13 lakh but now it got reduced to 3 lakh. 

They asked us to upload business proofs and PAN details, which we uploaded through the app. However even after verification still the restrictions hasn’t been lifted up. I have tried contacting customer support team multiple times but they just transfer the call from one exec to another and then hangs up. 

Is there any solution to this issue, has anyone ever faced similar thing. Any ideas on what to do , because it is really affecting the ease of business

This is a result of an increasingly toxic work culture where performers are penalized with more work while slackers make merry. This culture is driven from the top with current senior leadership who haven't left the firm have survived by the virtue of sycophancy.

Instead of firing people, they are being asked to resign so that the company is not in news.

I've personally seen this in co's rev teams, a new CTO has been hired from within Paytm. Employees are given 'negative ratings' in appraisal, which the CEO called 'an HR experiment'.

Is Shreyas Srinivasan now more focused on company politics and bickering rather than focusing on product building?

His largely talks about homepage designs only (like that's the only product management he knows), comes and gives gyaan but never had been able to deliver nos (his current KPIs are all red since 2 months), blames on other teams / external factors rather than owning things up like any half decent leader.

And most funny he and his minions (Neehar etc.) create full mess and then they start taking moral high ground / highlighting that how product is messed up once they pass responsibility to some other team.

No wonders Paytm lags so much behind PhonePe and GPay. When product leaders focus more on politics than getting work done, not sure how will key metrics grow.

I’m wondering where did VSS got the cash to buy 10% of PayTM. Some rough estimates suggest it would be at least $500 million. That’s a lot of cash or is my rough math wrong. 

Did he do something like Ritesh/Oyo buyback which was peculiar or could it be at a discount. 

I’m wondering if anyone has any thoughts or idea if what could happen.
