Rant alert: 

Have you felt the same way? How many years of work ex after which you started feeling this way? 

Stability and money I’m grateful for. But I hate the constant comparison and competitiveness among peers/colleagues. Makes me want to quit and do a Teach for India fellowship. A little corporate detox. 

Wish I had become an athlete instead. I know it’s not an easy life, but It’s the kind of competitiveness I’m inclined towards. Not inclined towards the kind where you compete with people to please a company that will never care for you as a human. But people fail to recognise that, lose perspective, and lose themselves too. People have no class in this shitty world. If I have kids, they’re definitely becoming athletes and not entering this hellhole. 

Most ironically, I’m borderline considering an MBA to escape the corporate life for 2 years, but obviously I’m aware I will only get entrenched further in it due to the degree.

Micromanager bosses are like overly attached parents who decide your diet, tell you what to eat and when and also give you instructions on how to chew. 
But it also has its BIG wins:
- You will never be alone.  You’ll never feel lonely. Your micromanager will be your constant shadow. Going to the meeting - he will be there. Writing an email, he will be in cc. Going the restroom - he is behind you. Having a date - he will stay on the call. Getting cozy with someone - He is right there.. in between you and ahem ahem. Thinking what to do next - He will be there in your thoughts, even before the thought of "I think" hit you.
- No more decision making. Who needs to make decisions when every choice is made for you? Whether it’s the font size on your presentation, angle of your desk chair, your hair color, your last name, your baby's name, your heart rate, your BP, your death time - your micromanager’s got it covered.
- You get free cardiovascular workout (Dhuk Dhuk.. lubdub lubdub.. you get the hint)
- You will be one of those few who will experience the joy of meetings about meetings for those meetings that were not required
- You will be trained to live in real-time surveillance conditions, where all your activity and movements is monitored and what you say is captured - you could be a contestant tomorrow on BIG BOSS OTT if you like
- You would be the elite few who will get to experience New, follow-up emails, reminders, and gentle nudges tags on an email all within 5 minutes of each other
- By the time you leave, you’ll have a black belt in stress management
- By the time you leave, you would have lost weight
- You will see increased commitment to work: You will sleep less, You will turn up to office on time, will work more and for extended hours
- You'll save money - no weekends = no social activities and outings
- With constant micromanagement, you’ll soon wonder "who are you" "why are you" "why are we" "why is everything" - first step of higher level consciousness

Applied to Paypal through a linkedin job post around mid May. Got reached out by their HR late in May for an Online Assessment round on Hackerrank.

OA was of 1 hour and contained 8 MCQ on Android and 2 DSA easy level leetcode - 2 sum + max profit.

Cleared that and 2 WEEKS later got asked to interview for a subject in depth and DSA round.

This round contained general Android knowledge and in depth language awareness questions(Kotlin based).
Around the end of the interview, the interviewer asked to open any preferrer IDE and share the screen and then to write a solution for eliminating a target value from Integer array(can contain duplicates too) without using extra space.

Cleared that and went on to the 3rd round three days later which was essentially a repeat of the previous round but more conversational. The time ran out before any DSA Question could be asked.

Three days later got asked to interview for the Hiring Manager round which got scheduled and then got cancelled a day before the interview was supposed to take place. 

Tabse leke ye haal hai. HRs are ghosting and seem clueless themselves. Their workday portal also has removed the link for the role I was interviewing for.

I’m a very private person and I was a bit confused whether I should write here or not, but anyway.

So, day before yesterday I was sitting on my chair after dinner and was thinking about my life and what the hell am I doing.

I realised that,
Saala bachpan se aaj tak race me hi bhaag raha hun. Pehle school me 1st, 2nd, 3rd aane ki race me. Then acche college milne ki race me. Then uske baad acchi job milne ki race me. Then uske baad agar ladki chahiye toh uske liye bhi ek race hai (Don’t have a gf, plz don’t take me wrong, it was a realisation)

My current daily routine is like this:
Wakeup everyday, write code, go gym, dinner, and then sleep and repeat this cycle everyday.

School ke dost peeche chhoot gaye, college ke dost apni life me busy ho gaye, colleagues se main zyada baat nhi karta and main akela padh gaya.

Feels like life is not intriguing anymore, it has no spark left. Its so painful to live everyday.

I feel like I don’t want to live any more, I want to die but I can’t cuz of 2 reasons.
1. I’m the only son of my parents.
2. If I die like this, then I won’t be able to come out from the birth cycle.

That’s it

What's the dumbest thing your boss has said?

I have been in this dilemma for the past two years. Work is nothing interesting to write about. Literally frozen learning anything new. Was able to start with teaching through an opportunity and started liking it. But the inability to process thoughts in a streamlined execution plan is throwing me off. There are so many things to do, but so little attention span. 

I want to be grateful for what I have but also want to prove to myself that my ability is probably better than this, to toil this way. 

I thought moving to a better job with better money might be the solution but is it ?

Do people relate to this or is this just a me thing? Please share your thoughts. Any suggestions to get out of this loop is welcome.

Miserable but unable to make a move

My bestfriend is going to the USA. She has gotten an admit to a very prestigious university for MS in CS. I have known her all my life and have had a crush for almost 15 years now. 

I never had the guts to say it to her because the timing was never convenient. We used to hangout together a lot. She was also in a relationship on and off with this guy. Maybe she did not see me as boyfriend material or I don't know. But I always wanted to be with her. 

I never looked at any other girl because I knew I liked her. So I waited and waited. Hoping that she would see me the way I saw her. She would love me the way I wanted to love her. But mard apni pasandeeda aurat ke lie kuch bhi kar sakta hai. So I decided not to confess my feelings to her. 

I did not want to jeopardise my friendship with her. But now that she is leaving for USA. I am scared we will not talk as much. Should I confess my feelings or let her go?
