It actually isn't a big thing in the South here. Until 7 years ago when I came out of my state for work and met Northies, I didn't even know there is a festival called Holi. Even now, it's only a thing in major cities. Tier 3 and towns and villages don't even know about Holi today.

It felt like they didn't even consider Holi as a festival here, despite a lot of North Indian residing in the city. Weird :/

Attendance time! Why you awake?

I've been living in BLR all my life and been living in Gurgaon for about 4 months now because of company transfer. I thought BLR was bad until I came to Gurgaon.

1) The complete lack of apathy and compassion is off the charts here. People are so individualistic and small issues turn into huge fights. One example being a guy in a Fortuner hit my Hyundai hatchback from behind and screamed and made a scene when it was his fault and the guys all around supported him, I knew limited Hindi and I had to pay money to get the hell out of the place.

2) Climate and pollution: No words here. Extremely hot and polluted.

3) Rents have almost reached BLR levels or more 

4) infrastructure: I thought BLR infra was shit but roads are non existent here and streets get water logged and stays waterlogged for 10 hours even after rains stopped lol.

It feels like a dead City with no life, depressing and a concrete jungle.

Living in Gurgaon makes living in BLR seem like heaven

Bombay’s the financial capital of India and Bangalore’s the Silicon Valley of India. Which one would you prefer and why? Would your opinion change w.r.t age (eg. 20s are better in Mumbai vs 30s are better in Bangalore?

Came to Bangalore to join an in-office role, the org and role is good. 

But coming from Gurgaon, I was not able to like the city. 

Some cons: 

- Extremely poor infrastructure like a tier 2 city 
- Every govt official is corrupt, police can harass you anywhere 
- You neither feel homely nor is there any vibe of a cosmopolitan city. Local politics will not let this city become a cosmopolitan startup hub. Gurgaon is so so much better. 

- Everyone just wants to loot money, everything is expensive. Rent is high, landlord deducting 1 month extra rent, unnecessarily high security amount, cook and maid everything is so effin’ expensive 

- Alcohol is expensive. 

- Good food is expensive 

The value of money is lesser here as compared to the rest of the country. 

I have a flight tonight and I am so happy that it’s a one way flight. 

I don’t mean to offend anyone, but bangalore can be very lonely and it has been so for many of my friends. 

Particularly ease of life is much higher in NCR and that’s why a lot of people move back. Those who feel otherwise haven’t lived in NCR so Bangalore is more of just a bubble for them.

Leaving Blr in 4 months- Rant

I recently moved to Bangalore and almost immediately went into a zone of persistently feeling sad and hopeless. I refused to take antidepressants. I am doing slightly better after few sessions of therapy, but I want to know some other alternatives? Anybody experienced the same thing? What makes it better? Bangalore feels like a culture-less city tbh.

Depression is common in Bangalore?

It's same for all metro. But I will tell what helped me. 
  
 Don't just work and eat sleep. 
  
 Pursue few hobbies...like i picked swimming, running and gym on weekends. 
  
 Read books... 
  
 Travel to South Indian places and beaches hill stations. 
  
 Read spiritual books or listen to them. 
  
 Eat healthy, watch healthy, think healthy. 
  
 Always take care of parents n siblings health especially.

I don’t get the narrative of most south states to force their language on others. I mean people from different states in the north speak different native language i.e Punjabi, Haryanvi etc but still they can do the conversation in Hindi. 

Most of the people from Bangalore always come with the phrase “Go back to your state”. Someone please tell them that we are living in their state as we don’t have much choice. 

Also, almost 70% of their employment comes from people like us.

IT companies should expand their operations in cities like Gurgaon, Hyderabad and Noida.

What do you guys think about this unwelcoming nature of some local bangalore people?

Everyone knows the org behind this, faces are captured on cameras but still these culprits are roaming free. That’s how democracy works!

This happened in Mumbai too but 10-15 years back. All new people registered their vote in Mumbai and killed this regional thinking. 
  
 All people who want bangalore to succeed. Register in bangalore and vote for right candidate. 
  
 Not a party which doles out cash for vote.

It's crazy how this native-non native issue persists immensely in Bangalore. No other developed city like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Pune has this. 

Bangalore is going down big time with so much rising hate in the city.

Is this end near for BLR?

Then why were these Kannada people crying during COVID and begging the government to make outsiders come to Bangalore so they could afford food to eat?

I was at a friends place and it suddenly started raining heavily. I had to reach my girlfriends place ASAP. She was already very angry that I was not spending enough time with her. The problem was that I was not getting any auto on Uber or Rapido.

I stopped an auto and asked it for a ride. He quoted Rs 800 for a 4km ride. I was like, "Are you crazy?" 
I somehow negotiated it down to Rs. 500. But it made me wonder why is this city like this.

Like everyone is trying to scam you. Every one is a grifter, from your landlord to auto wallahs to the cops.

Have you faced such things in this city?

I have recieved offers from two of the faangs one is in Hyderabad and other in Bangalore. I have lived in Blr for some months previously so I have a bit idea about bangalore but I want to know about the contrasts between hyderabad and bangalore and hyderabad more because I have never been there. In all aspects - cost of living, things to do, entertainment/ adventure , and live in general.

Bangalore vs Hyderabad

So, I joined this company located in Delhi last year from Bangalore as a permanent WFH employee. Initial 6 months were fine, even though I was aware they had pre-installed tracking software called "Teramind" while sending  the laptop! But in the last 3 months the work culture or environment has completely flipped and turned into Toxic.

First they made us install a remote tracking software called "Hubstaff"  which tracks keyboard and mouse activity and time, and takes 4 screenshots every 10 minutes.

Then they made it compulsory 8 hours a day excluding any break like lunch or tea.

This month they tied work hours with Salary and started deducting the entire day's pay even if you are short by like half an hour!  

Almost all employees know they need to leave but are kinda stuck due to the current job market situation.

I'M thinking of quitting without finding another job now, I'm just mentally tired and frustrated with the situation I find myself in. All my emotional energy is spent, I just don't know what to do😞

Both are for the Banglore location. Which one should I choose considering better work culture and work-life balance? Any help will be appreciated.

In my org people have been creating that vibe where they are very sophisticated about their actions, the way they speak etc, they behave like we are working in a US based startup where they are using western lingo and all together a different way to communicate. I have worked in other startups in other cities but didn’t find this type of culture. Is this common or am I missing something?

What are your thoughts?

Are bangalore people actually very sophisticated or they are just faking it?

A simple explanation is that people live in their little bubble. 
 That bubble explodes when the auto/cab driver tells them to go f themselves
