Wish I had work from home!
I became a new father like a week ago and I work in hardware. It’s already very hectic and has low reward mechanisms. Within next week I will have to leave my baby & wife in the hometown with better care and attention to earn my living in the city. Its not like my org is forcing me & is calling me, in-fact they are nicest I have seen but wish ke thoda time aur hota with zero regrets.

Do Indian companies even care about that?

This is what wfo folks don’t get. I also know ppl who prefer office environment/ppl than their home. Anyway, hope wfh doesn’t fade away

WFO people get everything. They just don’t want to spend time at home or their PG doing nothing. Most of the pro WFO people are younger. Makes sense for them.
Ya as in they don’t really realize how short lived work relations or memories of office are… I do see older folks liking office as an escape from their outside work life. They’d rather accept office as a quick solution than fix other life aspects. Only layoff can be a wake up call to them to reprioritise

There are a lot of pros for wfh.
1.you can take care of your elderly parents.
2.you can save a lot of time and money.
3.you can buy things which you can't buy doing wfo like gaming setup, a TV, etc. As you might need to relocate to a different place( again need to find a good house, initial setup, shifting headache etc).
4. You can admit your child to the best school in your hometown which is still a lot cheaper than tier 1 city schools.
5. with the saved money you can invest it near your hometown and plan an early retirement.
6. I can travel to a lot of places to spend some good quality of time.
Plus you can buy a home where you want to and are not tied to your employers location . that mean working form you village with stable internet connection too.
Also add to that you can take more courses and get more skilled in the time it takes to compute .
Plus you can also do swing trading in free time from stock markets. byt giving few minutees on a wekday or weekend .via mutual funds or ETFS
