Confused about a foreign MBA, leaning on a NO

Non-engineering tier 1 grad here. Close to 1 YOE. At this point, I'm not sure which career path I want to choose. I see so many MBAs working in the same profile as me and honestly? I would never work in this role if I would've done an MBA I know that doing an MBA isn't magical and wouldn't solve all your problems. Maybe it makes sense for all those engineering grads who want to change careers or for people who are just looking at buying some time before they grow up. I know I won't learn anything absolutely new because my undergrad was in a similar field. What it'll offer me is a good network and some pedigree, but at this point I'm not sure if it's worth it, especially for ~30 lakhs of fees. I just want to hear from people who had a similar background (commerce/non-engineering) and if they had any regrets due to pursuing/not pursuing an MBA.

I have worked in startups for 6 years now(Product Manager role); and recently applied for 1-year MBA programs in UK. Got in Queen’s University, University of Liverpool, Birmingham and a few others. I resigned a few months ago because company was putting people on PIP instead of layoff and severance payments. I am not working at the moment. Eventually I did not go for MBA - thought it’s foolish to spend 30lakhs for a Masters Stamp on my portfolio. People generally to for MBA to move into another domain; and mostly product. I am thinking of a few conventional businesses now or a job overseas. I do not have a Tier 1/2 college degree. What would you have done?

Engineering grad. Transitioned into marketing right out of college. ~2 years of experience. Started out on a shit pay, currently underpaid but getting good exposure and learning a lot. This was a conscious decision as I am focused on learning, growth and personal development. Feedback is, I have made massive professional progress in the last 1.5 years and the company too (at my request) is giving me more agency to explore and diversify my skill set. This means; mainly more responsibilities, a few operations related decisions & tasks and a few sales calls and client presentations. I work at a very small startup and I feel, despite having the opportunity to learn here, the environment or mostly the pay is too shit/low. I am already a star employee here and I feel it would be a good time to switch, to be amongst a group wherein I can get more challenges and opportunities. Of course, a higher pay would be wonderful as well. While, job switching is an option, I am also thinking about doing an MBA. I feel if I can build upon this momentum and get into a good college - it would negate years of grind that I would have to put (in the current scenario). I really would like you good people to analyse my situation and help me out, please. TIA.

PS- I’m not an MBA and into Growth Strategy with 20lpa and 5yoe. Need solid and logical opinions on if I should consider an MBA?

The current scenario of MBA grads from non IIM colleges is literally so bad. They have to agree on working free of cost for SIPs just to get an experience on their resume. Unlike IT engineers they have to go to office 5/6 days a week, in cities like Mumbai. Honestly this is the most jarring part of the life. I really hope that you consider this while pursuing for MBA , going abroad is not a bad option in my opinion.

Specifically a question to all the t1 tech clg grads (mainly software engineers) earning 1l+ pm out of clg with a lot of scope for growth. Post mba avg salary is 1.5l per month. I can understand ppl desperate for a career change and non tech ppl who are underpaid and don't really have ab option but it baffles me why well paid folks would shell out 30lakhs kr take the burden of loan just to learn how to appear smarter than you actually are instead of investing it for a meagre salary increase that can be achieved by job switches. I'd love to hear any insights about ppl who've already been in the space. Why u did, salary PRE post sector etc

Hey everyone, seeking some career advice here. So, I've been grinding away in the risk domain at a big financial services MNC for about 2 years now ( have total experience of 5 years from similar companies), pulling in around 30 lakhs INR. Recently, I got a bit curious about what else is out there, so I started poking around. But here's the kicker – every HR rep I chat with says my pay is cool, but they're eyeing up MBA grads from fancy schools for the budget I'm looking out for. Thing is, I know my stuff. I've snagged awards, jumped up the ladder faster. But now I'm starting to sweat about whether my lack of an MBA is gonna bite me in the rear down the line. Plus, with all the chatter about layoffs, I'm low-key freaking about whether my gig here is as solid as I thought. Any advice on how to navigate this maze? Should I bite the bullet and go for that MBA, or stick to my guns and trust that my track record speaks for itself? Appreciate any wisdom y'all can drop!

Hi, I am working in an mnc as a software developer since 2 years after graduating from a top tier IIT. But I don’t see myself doing this in the next 5 years. Should I do an MBA from top tier IIM college? I know it will not be beneficial in short term but in long term is it a good idea? Anyone from similar backgrounds do share your experience.

Side projects and hobbies that once brought joy now seem like monumental tasks. The energy to code for fun is gone, replaced by a numbness that Instagram barely alleviates. I was drawn to it to be doing something that’s helpful for others, something fun, a hard challenge or impactful. But the best opportunities have landed me in soul-less projects. No impact, no appreciation, no engaging challenge. Just a cog in the machine. Life goes by in the 1030 - 8. Barely making the money to give back to my family and save up to get married. I can’t afford posh restaurants, have no time for hobbies or sports. Feels like I am getting nothing in life. No money, no meaning, no fun, no passion, no societal status.

Overview: Everyone around me, be it old school friends to the people in the bangalore startup ecosystem are planning to or already in the process of doing an MBA. What is happening: Most of the people I know, either are going for a tier 1 MBA in India or colleges like “Carnegie Mellon”/ “INSEAD”/ “NUS” these are really good places. Why am I concerned: I dont have great acade, GEM candidate so I have decided to not pursue CAT at all, and MBA outside India is too expensive. I feel like my job and career are going fine with 4 years of professional experience I am making 25LPA in marketing. I am not keen on doing an MBA but I dont want to regret later. I consider myself to be fairly smart but what happens when I am competing with people who have great brand names on their resume and are actually smart. People on GV with more experience, have you gone through this struggle? Sidenote: I also have friends who have cleared IIM ABC, ISB and not gone, because they just wanted the admit letter. Which is brave lol!
