BlackHat Retention Tactics by TCS 👽

TCS organises an internal exam called "Wings 1" by which the new joiners can double up their salary. (They get extra incentives, it's added as a separate item in Salary Slip).

• No Fairness • No transparency , just hope so that you get stuck in the loop.

So they organise this 3 times in a year so that they can cover the whole year. (Selling Hope of Getting Cleared Every Cycle).

A few months back they changed rules as most of the people were on the verge of clearing it. There is no particular syllabus for most of the exams. If you are on the verge of clearing Required Tracks, you will potentially end up getting failed in one of them for sure.(you'll never know why !) There's no marking scheme. The exam centres are 50-60KMs away. You can't even see how many marks you scored. The Result comes after a month, that too is sometimes delayed.(This is the same TCS which organises JEE etc exams). If more people are clearing, they reshuffle marks (Happened in Earlier Cycle). Even after so many obstacles if you clear it: if your manager gives you C band it goes away...

they call themselves employee friendly 😂.

Most of the new joiners get stuck in this cycle & end up losing their precious time.

Someone should raise this issue. It should be in NEWS.

Tech bros need to stop cribbing at every point. If you really think you deserve more, please quit your job and start a business. You can also come on YouTube and give podcast once your company becomes big enough.
Untill then, please take that over paid salary amount, and enjoy your weekends traveling and posting it on insta.

I had a relative who worked in TCS, who had major personal issues with his parents health for 10 years. If it wasn't for TCS and its policies (leaves, insurance etc) he would have been fired 10 times over at the most vulnerable period.

True.. most cases TAta companies help and support. There are bad instances as well, they are anomalies and not the usual. They may not pay well, or provide super growth opportunities, but for people looking for a steady job with minimal ups and downs , tata se ves best. Like government jobs

This is so bad, but also smart (evil smart). They've basically managed to create a pipeline of incoming candidates and regulate their flow easily by making the test tough.

Sad state of affairs.

Is the ‘Tata’ employee friendliness and nice brand not a true story anymore (I know for a fact it was almost a decade ago).

I guess TCS becoming the highest profit earner really changed their approach to managing white collar workforce :/

My friend who doesn’t know utter word about coding or tech got into TCS clearing there online exam with proxy. Now he is learning many things. He is getting 3 lakhs but that is also very good for him as he comes from very weak financial background. Don’t rant always. If you know you have talent then switch.

Good for your friend, but why are you dick riding Tata? Are you a majority share owner in TCS? Or are you just a sadist who doesn't want the employee conditions to improve?

Companies like TCS work heavily on the “Fear factor” concept. Fear the manager. Fear the practices. Fear of losing the job. And somewhere that fear develops into loyalty overtime. I find this very weird btw.

I find employees giving into the fear weird. And I find the same employees staying put for over 10 years even weirder. But again, I am talking from a privileged situation so what do I know.

What they are doing is wrong. Not contesting that. But iam curious to understand how these companies ended up creating fear factor at work.
