Hyderabad is a very nice place to stay with family. Cost of living wise, far cheaper than Bangalore. But don't stay near Gachibowli or Hitech. They are uber expensive for no good reason. If your office is at Hitech, stay at Kukatpally or Miyapur area, if it is in Gachibowli/Financial District side, stay at Nallagandala, if you want it cheap. If you don't have financial issues, stay at Financial District, Kokapet or Narsinghi. In hitech, your kids won't get grounds/park to play, in these newer areas, there are lots of good society in equivalent price. Get bike if you ride one. One obvious downside - Hyderabad is not a proper cosmopolitan city, it is developing very fast, but no way you can compare it with any big city like Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai or Bangalore. You don't get regional products easily which is otherwise available in any big cities. Food options are kind of boring - great local food, rest whatever. But these matter more to bachelors, for family, women safety is great. Locals are friendly, no language barrier.
