Comparison: Average IT professional's salary and effort
Of course, salary is adjusted to PPP, but the work hours are already higher Source: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/pushkar1005_in-united-states-what-i-have-heard-about-activity-7125394362238214144--8Ha?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop
This is not an apple to apple comparison. Even Assuming the PPP as same (which is not) we Indian are over paid. And under employed. The work culture is vastly different. We are paid for the "effort" they are paid for results. Of course I am talking on an overall basis. There are slackers everywhere. We get more paid for slacking and pretending.
These big tech giants choose India, China and Indonesia & most asian countries for cheap labour. It's a harsh truth. Companies like Infy, TCS and other service based companies exploit the hell out of the Indian employees by taking huge chunk of those revenue and passing along peanuts back to workers.
But the thing is Tech companies are gradually moving towards SaaS. It's expensive but its ready to use off the shelf. So Infy like companies are trying hard to keep their old clients let alone get new clients. So naturally these leaders pass the blame back to employees.
Leaders be like: Oh less revenue? The employees must be working less. Let's push them further to a brink of exhaustion and burnout.
