Decision - PIP OR RESIGN?

Hey All,

I’m going to have meeting with HR regarding PIP next week. There I need to take decision whether I have to resign and take 4 months pay or whether I have to go with PIP plan and perform certain tasks for 2 months what they will decide and evaluate. I’m a bit confused what option should I need to opt. I’m looking for jobs but didn’t receive any calls till now but I’m actively applying.

From many people I’ve heard that in PIP they are giving hard to achieve tasks and pressurising to resign else if got fail in PIP, they will terminate and will give termination letter instead of relieving letter. What option should I opt , considering all the possibilities and current market situation?

P.S - I have 2 YOE in front end development

Suggestions from experience would be highly appreciated and can help me.

If that is the case you are sure about pip then go for 4 months salary and get it in written. Grind super hard for 4 months and I am sure you would get a far better job . But if there are good chances to get out of pip then take that route . I would chosen 4 months pay because I would upskill myself , also if you go on pip , somehow I feel the relations get skewered between the manager and reportee.

1- they don’t provide anything in written but as I know many cases of my knowns. They have got 4 months salary when they choose to resign.

2- many have also told me that PIP goals for bench employees are unrealistic and hard to achieve. And in the meeting HR pressurise employee to choose resign else if got fail in PIP the will get termination letter.

3- also if somehow I clear PIP, there is a good chance they end up giving me same rating for this cycle as they kept me on bench from April and now 2 months I’ll be in PIP

4- I’m also thinking to resign and take salary and prepare myself to get better opportunity. But there is this fear like what if I don’t find any opportunity in next 2-3 months. What if I end up being unemployed for so long.

Will they give in written that they will give full 4 months salary (not only base salary but full salary)

No they don’t provide anything in written ….but all the cases I’ve came to know was like this only. They have received 4 months pay if they decide to resign.

I would suggest you to resign as that would be better. By being in PIP wherein u know that there is a high chance of getting tasks that are impossible to achieve you'll go through a lot of mental stress which isn't worth it at all. Choose to resign, upskill yourself and most probably you'll get a job in 4 months. All the best
