Dad had a heart attack and I couldn't figure it out

Please learn to recognise stroke and heart attack symptoms if you don't know already. They are similar to acidity and indigestion. I learnt the hard way today despite having read so much about it. It doesn't always happen like one expects, where patient clutches their heart or starts fainting, it doesn't look very different from common conditions like viral fever. Uneasiness in chest is a huge red flag no one should ignore. I was trying to treat symptoms because he had fever and a few other problems as well since before. Didn't even occur to me that it could be so much worse because I've never seen someone have a heart attack before. He was still walking around and functioning alright, albeit slower and with pain. Thankfully we managed to get to a hospital in time, but we should have gone sooner. The more one delays, the more difficult recovery becomes. I suspect the new covid strain is doing this, seeing a lot of other heart attack patients in the hospital. Please watch out for people with co-morbidities like diabetes, bp problems, cholesterol etc. I hope he pulls through this. Completely shaken today.

As someone who has experienced this with my father, I would recommend that one should always have Sorbitrate 10 handy, as an 🆘 tablet in your first aid kit. My father had a heart attack - he was feeling uneasy, restless and couldn't sleep at night. He suspected it because he's had it before already and needs medication. He consumed the tablet and rode to the hospital himself on his scooter (not recommended) and got himself admitted. He was in the ICU for a few days and then had a bypass surgery.

Damn, your dad is metal af. Thanks for the suggestion, will keep it handy now on. Apparently all his arteries are blocked, might need bypass once stable. One stent inserted so far.

My father already had an angioplasty 7 years ago. This time, multiple blockages were detected, so had to go for a bypass.

The same thing happened with my father last year, around the same time. He came back from the office and had a heavy meal and suddenly had a bad case of acidity, as we understood then. He took acidity tablets but still the discomfort was there. He went to the office the next day but the pain was still there but a little better. We got the ECG done but it was normal. The doctor also said it would be mostly because of acidity. But as a precaution we got this test done - TROPONINE. It was 240x times normal. Immediately got him admitted to the hospital. Out of 3, 2 arteries were 100% blocked. But fortunately, everything went well and it has been a year now and is in much better health. Just to summarise: Don't rely on ECG as it is not a reliable marker of heart attack and get the TROPONINE test done to be 100% sure if there was a heart attack or not.

Read in the newspaper today that another actor(not that well known) passed away due to a heart attack. Incidentally 4-5 people in my non immediate circles between ages of 30 to 50 passed away due to sudden heart attacks. What is going on? Are heart attacks actually increasing?

AstraZeneca Admits Covishield Jab may cause blood clots. India has been experiencing high number of heart attacks in recent years and that too at very young age. I always used to say that these vaccines were the reason behind it and here we are. I have personally lost someone close due to this. But the problem is that who do I blame this on? I see news reportings that people will drag the company to court. Some are saying the govt is at fault here as they promoted it. But I feel the covid times were so tough that no one knew what to do. No one knew whether these vaccines actually worked or not. But everyone was ready to grab them. We all knew the number of trials were less but still we asked for it. So, I am still in a dilemma on who to put the blame on because let's face it this is a huge f**k up.
