Subscription Products by Indian Startups
Subscription Products(paid at start) have never worked in India for Consumer Products. COUNTRY DELIGHT/ OTT platforms are becoming an exception, Is India ready for subscription products? What subscriptions apart from above you have taken?

Newspaper, magazines (no more), water filter, milk (buffalo milk from nearby dairy), gas, electricity, water all are subscription based products.

Most of them are postpaid products. Have heard of Livpure offering prepaid RO Water but traction is less.

Subscription needs loyalty.
Indian consumers are experimental. We like trying out the shiny new toy at the store.

The value delivered should be measured in the hours of payment required. Typical Netflix subscription in US is $15 which is two hours of pay. In India, they charge 1500 which is 6-7 hours pay.
Value not delivered equally across geography
You're saying Netflix is charging more in India than US? $15 is Rs1260. That doesn't seem right.

For some time, Swiggy one too, but today the pricing is quite high. It was good till it lasted.

Isn’t Matrimony / Shaadi / Jeevansathi / Tinder , subscription based products , and all seem to have done well
You just need to give a major alpha in terms of price/convenience/quality. A combination is great, but even one standalone can be a difference maker.
I feel Jio is absolutely a killer value prop vs netlix in terms of ROI
I feel how Country Delight/MB etc. have scaled up is a sign too
The future is bright for subscription products.
Anything which add value to one's life is worth subscribing.

Subscriptions will be popular where fixed income or stable wages is a given. We don't have a higher % of India working in stable jobs with higher surplus remaining m-o-m yet. And subscriptions have a factor of virality, as in people pay for Netflix, Zomato gold because their circle has it. Some subscriptions will need a seed mass of threshold to then achieve breakout (like Livpure or Country Delight).
Incomes need to increase to achieve surplus for households that they are comfortable committing a fraction every month towards something.
In addition to others mentioned, essential utilities can become mass success as a subscription. Like Tata Sky. Prepaid mobile has become a subscription. There is no fixed balance of talk time, sms data. You get daily limits on usage whether you use it or not, so it is a subscription.

Akshayakalpa milk subscription is something i have been using for over a year now apart from OTT subscriptions for Netflix, Disney, Prime as well as JioFiber.
YouTube Premium, Spotify, Google One, CIBIL Subscription 😅.
Used to have an Eatfit subscription for my dinner as well but they discontinued it, maybe it was causing them too much loss.
Might depend on categories. In food products I doubt the subscription model will appeal to most of the consumer base, when you also have value offerings from Dmart and Jiomart, and then the rest. If Jio can successfully build a super app with bundles of subscription offerings, then that can lead to something potential.
