What's the highest duration you've been unemployed?
I'm already 7 months in & I'm slowly starting to give up now. The positive affirmations, the "your time will come" crap is just not working anymore. Financially, I'm a mess. Living in constant stress & anxiety, parents don't believe in me, can't go out & have a drink with my friends since i have deliberately been out of contact with them. What has helped you go through such situations?
I was in the same boat uptill last week when i finally landed a job after a 5.5 month grueling search ... The pay was matched as per my previous company...so no hike ....
For an ambitious person like me ...yes it was extremely disappointing ...not happy ..not at all grateful..
but then i get humbled by my siblings and mother every now and then and realise that it's just the market ... we can't really help it ...These startups overhired and we are the result of their stupidity.
The only thing I can say is that ur emotions are completely valid and it's fine to be angry, ungrateful and frustrated ...companies do suck
The best you can do is upskill yourself by enrolling in good courses
Keep yourself as busy as u can.
Don't discuss job related topics wth your friends or peers unless you are getting something out of it . .or if someone is offering or refering you a job
or if not maybe just watch a good show or a movie
What i have also observed is that in this uncertain time ... networking is effective ...can land you opportunities ..
But not always ..agar naseeb khrab hai toh ...
since i ended up getting one through indeed ...so it's surprising though

Try being active at least an hour every day - running, sports, gym, etc.
I was voluntarily unemployed for 1.9 years where I tried building my own startup for approx 8 months. Rest of the time i used my parents salary as a privilege to live with them, read a lot, get fitter, understand my motivations career wise, playstation-ed a lot etc
Came to realise life is not a race, its a marathon and you can choose how fast you run.

Did you reflect on why are you unemployed? Why can't you get a job? Is it that you are unable to clear interviews? If it's about interview, do you ponder after giving an interview what could have been done better and avoid those mistakes in next interview?
I have been jobless max 3 months. Be positive. Always, believe something better is waiting for you. Don't regret on missing out on opportunities. What's gone is gone.
Have faith and belief on you. Every thing happens for a reason.
Out of 100s of applications, I got about 13 interviews, 4-5 were rejections, in 2 of them i went to the final round & they paused the hiring,2 of them didnt respond back after final round, 3 of them didnt give me any structured feedback just said we found a better fit.

Just gonna say few things, nothing random that you are used to hearing.
Understand first why jobs right now aren't easy to get into. Instead of crying out about being jobless, focus on doing something meaningful!
Like, let's say you want to apply for a fullstack engineer positions. What you do is, do projects in the meanwhile which are meaningful. Don't focus on getting a job, focus on having fun with your skills!
Figure out open source, contribute, connect with people who enjoy this just as much as you do.
Job is something that will come eventually. If you keep being desperate for it, it just is gonna be more difficult to face rejections!
My parents are not proud of me. I have to hear "iska kuch nahi hone wala" on an almost daily basis. My father had a surgery & my mother has severe knee issues, so i have been managing most of the household work everyday for months now
So its a little hard for me to have "fun". And im not crying out about it, im just disappointed in the recruitment system
I have been exploring projects & ive made progress, but that hasn't made an affect till now, lets see
And of course, there's the part about not having any financial independence.

it's going to be almost 3 months now, was my first full time job after graduating last year, early stage startup, role didn't last long, now back to square one.
took me a lot of courage to ditch witch offers and try my luck in startup roles, first interning at a japanese startup and then full time at this org, but now i am questioning if i made the right choice, cus even tho i have built projects, can grind relentlessly and have worked across stuff on the front-end, there are barely any open roles for junior or sde 1
Almost one year... Lost job during covid... Meanwhile while searching job side by side i prepared for masters due to which i never feel depressed although used to feel useless but make sure look long term which will reduce stress and also at least try to do exercise regularly and balanced diet. Although i know you are avoiding friend but at least have conversation with closed friend.
I am not sure from which field you belong but try to look for another field as well (specially if you are from core engg. Field aka mech,civil, electrical)
2 months This was when I got laid off and searched for a new job .
I know its a very small time period, just for that only I felt really bad .
Right now in this recession I can't even think what people are going through 😞
5.5 months in current situation
Post covid was unemployed for 1 year post mba from tier 1 college. Initially company delayed the joining and cancelled eventually post which i took another 6 month to find the job
I was jobless for 1 years. Recently got into a startup with 10% pay of what I was getting initially. The market is really really bad. Hopefully if we are able to close funds(my salary will be doubled). I feel it’s better to have something now than to not have anything.
