Fresh graduates vs laid off guys.

Hello Folks, So recently I came across a post on grapevine where a guy from XYZ company got laid off and he posted that he just got laid off and looking for job, That's it and nothing else and this post got so much engagement like people are commenting about open roles in their company, some are referring him and some are giving suggestions and all. Now few days ago I also wrote a post that I am graduating in 2024 and how I have 1.5 years of production grade internship experience and does not have full time offer but my post hardly received any traction and all I got was 2 comment where one guy asked for my stipend and another told that I should not aim for job paying lower than 1 lakh per month, this and that.

So why people are not helping new graduates but are helping the laid off people, I have seen this on all platform like linkedin twitter, what's the reason for this?

Internship experience isn't valued as any work experience (even if you worked at the multinational corporation).

No work exp equates to "the person has to be trained" and it's a hassle kind of mindset.

But don't let this bother you. Keep the grind going and you will end up with a satisfying job.

For referrals, the best route is to reach out to college alums in LinkedIn.

But these are the same people who used to tell that internship karo and you will easily get the job and Right now cold messaging is also not working, hardly getting response🥲

Times change and people don't exactly live by their words.

As far as I know, Broadridge India is hiring. Reach out to HRs through mail. They will respond.

No one is helping anyone. In this market currently its all wild west and getting a job is not only hard work but also a lot of luck and chance. Seniors will not be considered for entry-level or Junior roles - it is very common to hear that you are overqualified for this opening.

So keep your head up and keep looking and taking feedback for improvement. Try to avoid thoughts such as ‘others have it all’ or ‘no one is helping me.’ My colleague who was laid off with 10+ years of work ex is currently unemployed for more than a year. Network + genuinely help those whom you can + practice + self-reflection and you will surely get what you’re looking for!

Yes, I agree that people are getting rejected for being over qualified and luck is playing a big role in finding jobs now a days, but there are very very few openings for fresher, most of companies are considering people with 1 yoe for entry level roles too and maybe I am wrong, maybe I am just feeling this out of frustration but it sucks when you prepare for 4 years and doing internships and working on projects since 6th sem and in the end not having a full time offer while you graduate in few days sucks.
