How to respond when asked about a particular teckstack experience?

Suppose I have worked with reactjs and other frontend stacks. But the recruiter asks for nextjs experience, which I have never worked upon. Should we lie at this point given you can learn and prepare for the techstack if it is to be asked in interview or state clearly you dont have any experience with the techstack?

Being honest is best unless u are desperate. Interviewers will find out that u don't have hands on most of the time. Then it will be bad if that's their primary need.

Study NextJS as much as you can before the interview, and say you have limited experience in NextJS, like 6 months, but deep experience in ReactJS, and explain the common skills that transfer over from ReactJS to NextJS, and assure them that you can do the job in NextJS.

Companies aren't necessarily looking for someone who checks all the requirement boxes, rather for someone who can do the job. Hiring managers will often select candidates with some prerequisites missing, if you can assure them that you can quickly ramp up and get the job done.
