Indian managers of no use

Indian managers will make the work culture toxic even if they are in good international companies. Indian branches of the same company will be shity because of these insecure managers.

Retained the same paycheck and perks. Basically 3x more purchasing power but 'WLB took a hit'. Who woulda think! That's called Hardship allowance for a reason.

Even when the pay is not great, situation is the same. The trend is crystal clear. Degradation of work culture in general is a harsh reality. When I started my career things were far better.

It's the same world over where financial maximization is the primary motive. China has 996, US is super cold and ruthless when they perceive you are no longer relevant.

There are enough and more companies in India where WLB, culture have a lot more importance but yeah hard to see that intersection with money maximization too..

On the bright side, friend should be grateful that he was in a position to leave and also be ABLE to start his own... and can have the WLB and culture he yearns to see elsewhere - until he scales and becomes the 'corporate' he despises.

Unfortunately our ancestors didn't prioritize wealth accumulation like the EU colonialists did.

As i always say, Indian Managers are of different breed. They get there energy from the daily ego they carry.

This is India not Germany, leave entitlement before coming back. Slog and bucket 🪣 is only way to grow in Indian based or Indian boss companies, happy to be proven wrong.

Indian Managers are simply ji saab ji kind of people to their upper management. Bs chaat te rho upar walo ki. Pair dho ke pee lo ! They have no opinion of their own. Specially at startups, managers are already earning aukaat se chaar guna jyada. So they don’t give a shit about culture or humanity. They want to you to work 16hrs a day so that they do not have to work even 2hrs and get huge bonuses !
