Marketing a new app
Hey Folks!
I was planning on launching a new age social media application.
What are some good strategies I can apply to growth hack that shiz.
Im planning paying some Twitter/LinkedIn/Instagram influencers and asking some of my buddies who have a good following to post screenshots of the app. To make it look organic, they’ll post some topic to rile up the audience and get that engagement. Also we are planning to not mention the app name in the tweet but always have it in the replies so it looks organic and is if our app is already the talk of the town
Does anyone have any suggestions? Does this sound like a good plan. I paid a freelance growth consultant a lot of money for this plan. How does it sound? Anyone has any thoughts? Folks?
I honestly liked grapevine's approach. They ran a twitter account (anoncorpchat) and funneled people into their discord community much before the app was ready.
Did some useful stuff like salary report etc.
Then when the app was out, they posted SS of interesting posts..they still do this.
-
In short, build a community, provide value.
-
Bring in some 20-30 people from your immediate network to post on the app..seed good habits.
-
You as the founder might need to create multiple accounts and drive engagement via posts and replies..so that it looks organic..reddit co-founders did this.
-
Run app install campaigns on Meta (make sure there is enough content in the feed for people to go through, else your users will churn)
-
Promote your app in popular communities. Bring in referral rewards and seed some shareworthy posts.
-
I'd say you should do paid influencer posts once you have observe some DAU and engagement. You must also have figured out an engagement startegy for the acquired users. A/B test on your onbaording flow too.
Influencer campaign will lead to more branding than app installs. If you want more app installs perf marketing would be the better option.
- Remember to retain your acquired users. Retention is a big problem for social apps.
All the best, let me know if you need some help. Would love to work on something like this as a side project/part time.
Social media apps in general need
- a lot of people to show up around the same time
- preferably people similar to each other on some way (some shared context)
- at least 20% posting some content
Id focus more on
- ensuring folks with similar context join around the same time frame
- having content pre seeded (bot/fake accounts) within the app
Getting a decent number of people to install an app is probably the easy part
- getting them to see value on the app is the hard part. If they do - social apps usually see strong organic growth
You may already know this but the best hack in recent times was the gas app in the US. ensured
- groups of people knowing each other coming onto the app around the same time
- interactive quiz format to seed initial content
- fomo and offline cues leading to high revenue in the first few weeks
Is this EloElo?
