Can anyone please tell what is US Shift timings?
I have got allocated to a US based project, so I need to know the US shift timings
I've never worked in a US shift schedule (9 PM - 5 AM IST) before, but my company is considering alternating shifts starting next month. The proposed schedule would involve working 2 weeks on US hours and 2 weeks on regular Indian hours. Has anyone had experience with such a rotating shift pattern? What challenges can I expect, and is this setup feasible?
Hi, I have worked in Canada-MST shift (10 PM to 6 AM) somewhat similar to yours, here are insights from my experience:
Yes, I have worked like this for 2.5 years. Your sleep scheduled will get fu***ed every alternate week.
When you move from night to morning shift, your weekoff is reduced by 8-12 hours. When you move from Indian to night shift, your weekoff is extended by 8-12 hours.
Staying alone is advisable as you don't want to get disturbed in your sleep(by parents, roommates, etc). Always sleep in a dark room, helps to reduce the staring in eyes.
Try stitching to another company where you have only day shifts.
I worked from 6pm-3am. It was definitely peaceful once I made a routine, but I wouldn't suggest rotational shifts as that would be super hard to do
Life will become a living nightmare to the point where I was not able to differentiate between dream or reality .This was full night shift till 8AM , if u switch it up 2 weeks , it is more painful as once ur body adapts to night shift, u will have to do morning shift , so better run with ur life
Yeah, I had worked long back. Something like 9 pm - 4 am schedule. It is horrible thing to have. It completely wrecks up the life. Those guys should do that for 2-3 months alternating, not 2 weeks. Because 21 days is the period to form a new habit and the moment you start to get into a bit of schedule, it gets changed!! It is like a punishment.

Should I take up a job offer in which every second month involves night shift (11 pm to 7 am)? And other shifts are from 7 am and 3 pm. Too much rotation actually PLUS weekend working too sometimes, weekly off on weekdays.
