Power of Empathy :)

During a visit to a hospital today, while I was waiting for the appointment, I saw a woman sitting on the chair sobbing(she would have been the age of my mother). There was no family member around her. People sitting opposite were either busy on their phones or just watching. I am not sure what triggered in me to go and sit next to her. Now comes the dilemma if I should ask what happened but, instead I just held her hand. She looked at me, shocked but didn’t utter a word. She tightened the grip, but slowly started to ease. I could relate to that silence without saying a word. With that, her crying stopped. In that moment, I knew she was comforted. I thanked god for that :) And then I was called for the visit. Before leaving I just said, whatever it is, stay strong and you will get through this and went ahead :)

No offense intended — I genuinely respect helping the needy. I’ve just always been curious about why people feel the need to publicly share the good they do. If the goal is to inspire or encourage others, I feel like it could be done in a way that doesn’t directly highlight one’s own actions

SillyMarshmallow
SillyMarshmallow

Yeah, that’s a good point. But, for me, it mattered so I shared. You can have a different point of view and that’s totally okay!

And I always do act of kindness in silence. I was talking about the impact a little gesture can make in someone’s life who might be in pain at that moment

I didn’t have the courage to ask or to listen what might have happened. Apart from that, nobody is comfortable sharing their pain with strangers at the first place!

How to control sudden outbursts of emotional anxiety ?

At the risk of sounding weak, this has become more and more rampant with me.

It feels as if I am living someone's elses life.

Somedays I just feel like living a life thats pointless. These are the days when I feel very prone to these e...

Good people of Grapevine: What's the nicest thing you've done for someone? (family/friends/a stranger) 🍀

Write about a time you made someone feel very nice. Hopefully it can be a collection of ideas that others can take forward. If somehow a few people do something nice as a result, that would be powerful.

To start with an example: Bough...
