Protein intake for vegetarians

Hi folks, how does one complete their daily protein intake? I have heard plant based protein like the ones coming from dal are not effective enough for muscle building. Thoughts and recommendations from experience?

I am not a body builder but had a thought when saw this question. Sonu sood and Shahid kapoor have build muscles with vegetarian lifestyle, you can follow or research them and it might help you.

The amount of money they spend on trainers, supplements, gym memberships, rest and quality food cannot be compared to a lay man.

For a regular working class guy, the protein intake a non veg diet consumer gets is starkly more.

You may have veg options but they are limited and the intake would not compare.

Never do a comparison with celebs and athletes. Their job is to be fit and have a good physique, and that has direct monetary benefits for them hence they can "invest" in food, trainers etc and get returns. You can surely adopt certain practices and routines they follow.

I've built better than avg. physique on vegetarian diet.

The challenge is only the volume, you'll need to have a high volume of food when going all vegetarian. Best options, in somewhat order of protein quantity is:

  1. Soya - chunks/tofu, NOT soya milk
  2. Paneer
  3. Beans - lobia/rajma/black/sprouts/any
  4. Gram - Chana, black/kabuli/Delhi/yellow/udad/any
  5. Wheat variants - Sooji (upma/halwa), Durum and Semolina (pasta)
  6. Milk.

I've read that soya should be eaten rarely...it disruprs hormonal balance in men, manboobs.

That is irrelevant to you as a consumer. That perticular effect of soya is

  1. Seen in very low correlation to estrogen increase.

  2. Seen when the amt. you consume is kilos and kilos of soya.

I've been having 100g soya daily dack on the day, and I eat it now as and when I feel like.

Your issue is not veg diet, but money

Skip the paneer because it is too much fat. Why not drink whey?

Tofu is one of the worst things I have eaten but is very healthy. So is Tempeh. Its costly though.
