Revealed current CTC and got bad offer

Guys, I have 8 years of IT experience out of which , 2.5 in azure. I got a call from Capegemni HR , saying there's an azure opening, asked for my current and expected CTC. I said the current is 7 LPA and expected is 20 LPA. It's a hybrid role with 3 days working from the office. She said it is not possible, Max they can give is 10-13. I am in Kerala, and have a baby under 1. I have to relocate if I get it. I don't think it is fair salary.

Is it ok if we don't tell when they're asking for our current salary based on which they will give max 100% if we perform exceptionally in the interview.

Or how can I deal this?

Thanks in advance.

You need to reveal your current salary sooner or later.

You can generally ask them their budget for the position to reduce chances of getting lowballed.

However, in the current market this might not work.

So you can try either with remote jobs and/or get one opportunity and then keep trying for better.

If you choose the latter option then please ensure to not ghost any company on the joining day.

Apart from that, another perspective to consider is 13 LPA is better than 7 LPA.

So go with whatever works for you from the above.

Wishing you the best!

I know ji. Thank you 😊, 13 is better than 7 but I think it's going to be very difficult to live in Bangalore with three days going to the office.

It is not worth to relocate to bangalore with 10lpa with family. If you have decided that for the right amount you are willing to relocate. Try to negotiate further. If not accept the offer serve notice and try better opportunities. In worst case be prepared to join them while still hunting for job and put your papers immediately. Its business. 10-13 is a lowball for a 8 year experienced person.

They have the audacity to lowball. You should have the same when putting papers. They are just trying to be opportunistic based on your WFH/remote status.

10-13 LPA for 8 yoe is bonkers. Don’t even apply to such shitty companies

You have the experience to ask for 20 LPA, be clear about it. WITCH companies like CapG are like this who drag the salary to the 100% of your CCTC. Either ask them for your expectation or demand work from home for their salary or its best to find another opportunity. Take a mail proof of agreeing to Work From Home if they are ready for it or HR will fool you that they are ready for it and after joining they will ask you to come to office.

Yeah, I can do that 😊

You can refuse sharing your current compensation, insisting on the budget details.

Some companies won't have a problem, and some companies will have a problem.

If you don't have any immediate problem, you can stick to your point.

You can ask for budget, talk about your expectation and that's it. If you have quality and the company is fair, this is not a problem.

Chindi companies will always have a problem with this

You have to reveal your exact salary, else it will create problems in BGV. Do window shopping, take that offer, while on notice period grab multiple offers. You can try 25-30LPA, don’t limit yourself.

Thank you 😊. I will try my best.

But this is the realities when I ask for more then 100% but as per market standards they won't give me also then won't give me joining bonus and some person got in there offer in same time in Accenture

Go ahead and accept the offer for now. Drop the papers and then you will be getting more interview calls when your notice period will come to end.

You can always counter new companies with current offer in hand and ask for the joining bonus as you will be the immediate joiner for them. This will help you to settle in a new place if you choose to relocate.

20lac is fair expectation No 2 thoughts on it. But this is the start for you to move from 7lac to some higher ctc.

Ask yourself will you be comfortable in kerala with low salaries in 5-10 years.
Also check your savings rate on current ctc, check what are the additional expenses you'll incur in bangalore (own house no rent in kerala to rented place) shared groceries with parents etc etc.

Take informed decision. Capgemini brand and experience wil fetch you higher ctc in 2-3 years account them when you take call. While negotiating low ball offers look at the bigger picture, negotiate with evidence based points (naukri/linkedin) data for similar exp in other companies.

Salary negotiation

I got to know that budget for the role i interviewed is in range of 20-25 LPA. My last drawn salary itself is lower than the market standards. The company wouldn't give hike more than 30% considering my experience in the role domain. But...

Will I lose my job Offer?

Before interview got scheduled I had mentioned to recruiter that my expected CTC is 17-18 LPA, instead of 20 LPA fearing that they may not be ok with the percentage ...
