Thinking of paying 5.7 lakhs to a mentor for helping me build a killer side hustle - Dropshipping

I and my 3 mates, are looking to build a side hustle in Dropshipping with the help of a successful mentor (@desirichkid on Instagram, if you've heard of him)

He boasts of a lavish lifestyle online and tbh, the guy does seem very genuine. Regularly showcases his 1:1 mentorship client results, but rarely posts any info about them, as to not expose his winning strategies.

6000 euros is his fees for a 6 month mentorship programme, which involves a 1:1 session every week, in which he aims to help us build towards a 6 figure sales mark.

~ Roughly 5.8 lakhs

A little background, my CTC is 12lpa. And as 4 partners, I'd be pitching in 1.5-2 lakhs, over a course of 3 installments, month over month.

Am I making the right decision? Shall I trust the guy?

Haha, sounds cringe but in the end, it's all about the narrative, and justifying it as well.

That's 10 mins of my life I'll never get back. Dude is DesiCringeKid. Personally I think this is Ankur Warikoo / Dev Gadhvi level BS. But you seem to have already made up your mind.

My genuine advice is to stay the F away, but you won't. So I'm looking forward to a comprehensive post here about what really went down. Did it really work (and do we all eat crow), or was it yet another scam where your gullibility funded his 'lifestyle'.

Wow, looks total fraud. High probability that the OP here is the @desirichkid dude himself, posting here to get more gullible people to pay him

Do share your objective evaluation for selecting him, and what do you expect the 5.7L will give you in return.

Checkout the guy once on Instagram He goes by 2 brands,

  1. desirichkid
  2. officialrichteen

My objective evaluation - a) His content does seem to showcase that he knows what he's talking about. b) His client results, there's a highlight that he has on his profile. And he regularly uploads snippets from his 1:1 client calls wherein he showcases the kind of sales those guys have made. c) His personal brand is really solid. Provides an added sense of credibility. d) His journey. He started when he was 16 and he's 20 now, having the kind of lifestyle that people like us can just dream of. And I wanna create that for myself.

I might sound really naive on the (d) pointer, but I've honestly seen the power of ads done right. The potential is enormous. It's like legal gambling, can make you tons of money.

(I come from a marketing and growth bg in my career and have had cumulative net adspends of over 2cr, only downside being that's been spent just in India, not outside, so don't have much idea about those markets)

To your point d, guess what is funding his lifestyle? 😂

You can trust that this money will never come back :)

Why don't you invest 1-2 lakhs in dropshipping and try out all strategies instead?

MagicalMarshmallow

Honestly, that's what we're looking to do.

The 2nd installment gets due in 50 days. & if we haven't made any substantial results by then, we'd not go ahead with his mentoring and try out things ourself.

And to trying myself from start itself, I have. Invested close to 50k in the US, wasn't making much money, closed at around 10% loss.

I'm not looking for a small shot here. 5 figures a month is the least that I wanna make out of this (I'm talking $ or €).

Did you pay? We want an update

Yes I did. I am working with him towards building the store, product research, ads etc. Once launched, I'll share an update on how's the response and money.

My 2 cents, if someone is really a good mentor and has time to help you build, he/she will be better off investing 5lakhs in your business and take say 10-20% ownership. They guide, you build and they share the side hustle cash flows. They also get a share of upside if the side hustle blows up.

Usually people who are willing to charge for their time in cash instead of equity aren't there yet.

My advice would be to stay away, guy doesn’t look genuine to me

No. Go to blackhatworld or any other similar forums/community. All knowledge know how available in public . At worst, buy some paid course (or in group buying). It is profitable but challenging like any business. Save that money for marketing spending.

Just hate the topmate

The platform has made every intern a Leadership coach; charging ₹2999/- for each session.

The platform should have at least some decency to verify who is trying to become a mentor.
