Where do you guys get referrals from?
I mean its so hard to get a referral or is it just me? Basically,
-
Everyone on linkden is basically an influencer, though with a legit experience and ofcourse technical skills, its more like everyone is just there to flaunt and I practically see no one actually being helped or helping.
-
Only on a personal level, I guess having met them, do people take you seriously, that still is a low probability.
So my question is, if you were an average Joe in this job market, how would you approach people to have them actually land an interview let alone be selected?

Here in the grapevine app itself i got several referrals. All the interviews I am attending now are firm referrals. Whether I clear the interview or not is second. But I could see many folks coming up to help by giving referrals. If we get selected its win-win situation we get the job and they get money too.
The companies are having the following kind of referrals:
- Generic Referral
- Personal/Known Referral
- Both
Ideally one should be fine to provide generic referral.
However the people who are ready to refer face challenges like this:
-
People just ask if they can be referred rather than providing info like the job id for which they want to be referred
-
Some just stop at saying Hi, which should be avoided at all costs. https://nohello.net/en/
-
Sometimes the way of asking for referral is too weird/rude/unprofessional.
If you take care of these things then you should be fine IMO.
If you are already taking care of it then only you can share what else you are doing/not doing due to which you might be facing the issue.
Wishing you the best!

I follow the standard procedure of finding the job id and having my resume at 87+ ats score and with a formal introduction i send them a message. the problem i usually face is, people don't even read the message at times, those who do, say they will refer but i never get any email from the comapny that you've been referred.

Happens a alot with me. Agree. But still when we try multiple times atleast 3-4 we might get

In short: referrals are now dead!

Ay no, referrals do work! A friend recently made it to Google after being referred, and they were not the most conventional profile for the role

I am not selecting any profiles from referrals because folks are now charging 5K for referrals & that is wrong. Unless you both have worked in same company under same director/VP

For majority candidate refer dont work, that bitter truth, Refferal is highly overated it has become a side business instead of refering 2-4 they are referring 20 - 30 , so HR also don't take them seriously

Agreed, everyone wants that extra side money I guess.

Can someone please share a good ATS checker tool to get the score ?

Nowadays, LinkedIn is a motivational platform for posting jokes, I don't see people talking about how to get a job.

ikr, i dont in one go if i opened Instagram on my phone or linkden

Beg cry die

I got 4-5 referrals through LinkedIn. It's a number game.. you have to message atleast 50 people to get 5 referrals. Sometimes, people respond me after a month so don't lose hope.. you will find good people to refer you. Infact, I got a referral from Vice President once.

What do you write in a message while asking for a referral ?

So, there are 2 approaches
-
Check the careers page and if you find anything relevant.. start connecting with people on LinkedIn who work in the same department.. then tell them about your YOE and expertise and ask for a referral.
-
If you don't see any relevant opening, directly message them with your qualifications, YOE, and expertise.. and ask them to refer you internally.
