Why so many RIP posts on celebrity deaths?
I don’t get it , I understand most of these famous people have achieved extraordinary milestones in their life like Elon musk or Maggie Smith, Michelle Obama, or Warren buffet, through hard work.
But the circumstances each one of us grow in, are very different. Which ultimately shape us and the choices we make.
So someone who you may only know from screens , why would you care about them ?
Is all this part of gimmicks? Why do that? What does it serve?
I am genuinely curious, not making fun.
PS: whomsoever I saw reading becoming Michelle Obama was always on first chapter .
I agree. In general people tend to like a very specific quality about these so called celebrities and more than 99.999999% it’s not their personality.
But somehow I see a lot of people worshipping them and worst things these so called celebrities come up with different ways to capitalise this as much as possible.
If you look at it, they are no different from LinkedIn bhayya and deedis.
They use their brand value to promote their own agenda
If you want to hate, hate the human, don’t hate the craft
I wrote a post on the passing of Maggie Smith. To answer your question – I care about her because, although I didn’t know her personally, her portrayal of Professor McGonagall brought me joy. Her character gave me fond memories, especially the fun debates with friends about our favorite characters from the series. Her famous line, “I always wanted to use that spell,” still makes me smile.
On a broader level, people often feel connected to celebrities in one way or another, and their passing can feel like a personal loss. To me Irfan Khan’s death in 2020 was one such moment. I still wish he were around to share more of his brilliant work, as I always found his performances joyful to watch. On the other hand, I am unfazed by Sushant Singh Rajput’s passing.
It’s usually that the people have a special relationship with the celebrity. The celebrity stood for something in their life. A time, a memory or something else :)
