Will creating a fake offer to negotiate better salary land me in trouble?

I’m currently underpaid and while interviewing majority of the company are only offering salary based on my current CTC.

So if I maybe create a fake offer letter to leverage the salary negotiation part, will the hiring company find that out somehow?

Yes. It will. Never lie.
When I joined a company, another guy joined along with me. 3 days later, he disappeared. Seems our company did a background check and found out he faked 3 offers. They instantly fired him. They even informally emailed those 3 company HRs about this guy.

Never lie. They will always know it.

Interesting
Did he faked the experience letter or faked that he got other multiple good offers?

I don't know. I never got a detailed answer from the HRBP who fired him. All I know is he would've gotten the salary he asked for even without faking the whole thing.

So, never lie. Try negotiating. Even if you land lower pay you will improve your negotiation skills for future.

Fake Salary Slip to boost Hike

I recently came across someone who faked the salary slip to get a better hike. Is it a common practice? Isn't this verified during background check?
