Rotten society, politicians and authorities

Thank the people themselves. The politicians and the policy mirror society. If our society can be bought with a few freebie, then it tells you a lot about the people rather than the politicians.
I really don't blame urbanities in this because like you, I see only urban people :
A. Paying tax
B. Not falling for freebies
C. Actually caring about such issues, and demanding some policy change (it will never happen because we are numerically insignificant compared to rest of India)
Also, fyi, this has only been majorly propped to and fro Bengal because the people there are angry about the Hindu situation in Bangladesh(I have heard from friends whose relatives live in BD in really crappy situation). To simply state, a diversion from a security issue towards a more emotional one to drive anger away.
To prove, did you hear about the brutal rape and murder case that happened in Mumbai in the last week, or the one in Jharkhand?(Both in cities, mind you). I don't think so. It never got any press.
