Um it's just a degree bro. It won't solve any problems. But doing any degree from a prestigious university increases your chances to get a better job and network when compared to the average joe. That is all.

It's not a blanket statement. That's the point. Doing the degree from a prestigious college cannot be the defacto option. Just like other options, it has to be evaluated for its pros and cons. For the average joe, it makes sense. But for a person who's already in a good role / starting up / wants to be in tech as a developer / wants to be in finance and is already a CA/CFA holder - > incremental returns need not justify the costs.

MBA or Non MBA the job market is dull. Even experienced folks are not able to get their foot in the door. I agree, MBA is not a default option but in a bullish economy, a guy from IIM A, B or C can print money (2-3x or maybe more, of their previous salary) right after college.

There was a study done I guess published on Ken. It said, MBAs now aren't lucrative. The best chance people have of getting placed is those who are specialized in their skills, like say, someone with finance background with CFA, CA and MBA in finance - Huge demand!

This is from last year. I know a friend who was involved in the placement process at IIMC. Things were bad because of the market obv. Students had to take up 20-30k/month internship offers at the very end which is way lower than their average. But, everyone got an internship because it is a mandatory requirement for the coursework.

MBA or non-MBA doesn't matter much nowadays as long as you are earning well. I know, there are people who(did MBA), look down upon other degrees(Bachelors). Saying that's "just a degree". But no, doing an MBA doesn't always open all the doors. @DaringTrain I read all those comments where a student who fought about being at IIM-C was at the superior side. Which made no sense. 😅

The current scenario of MBA grads from non IIM colleges is literally so bad. They have to agree on working free of cost for SIPs just to get an experience on their resume. Unlike IT engineers they have to go to office 5/6 days a week, in cities like Mumbai. Honestly this is the most jarring part of the life. I really hope that you consider this while pursuing for MBA , going abroad is not a bad option in my opinion.

I've seen many placement statistics that report IIMA grads getting nearly a crore packages in domestic placements. I'm curious about what these jobs are, and which companies offer these jobs.
