The only thing shocking here is the guy being shocked about it.
Does no one here read what actually is being alleged? Netflix and Spotify have a Messenger chat option built in to their apps. Of course they need read and write access to messages to be able to provide that feature.

I have a question, yesterday I got an email from Instagram that my account will be suspended soon. The reason is because it doesn't follow our community Guidelines on spam. but the last time I posted a comment was to wish my friend's birthday wishes 4-5 months ago. does anyone receive the same type of email?
I think it's a scam, they will ask you to restart your password or send few links, and then they will hack your Instagram.

We can't and don't like to afford anyone at this stage. If someone really wants to put skin in the game without any expectations and we welcome them after formal get to know and interview to tag along till we onboard them. We are 4 and bootstrap for this month. We listed our hiring on our website.

And they might be hearing to voice/ audio too. Last time my wife and me talked about buying something, it magically started appearing in Facebook ads without us searching anything 😕

At this point of time, why are people even shocked. If your data is on the internet, it is bound to be misused. We have only 2 options-
1. Stay away from the internet. Live in the 70s 80s era, technologically.
2. The govt imposes extremely heavy penalties. Which again is not possible because govt is also involved.
