Just wanted to give some updates now that it has been 1 month since the last post

1) Senior Leadership from Tech (3) , a senior director from Product , Finance Head have all resigned. Strategy team has been dissolved. 
2) There are more people in the pipeline and will get more clarity by month end.
3) Everyone over the CTC of 60 lakh has been asked about the revenue that they bring in and based on that, their position is being reconsidered.
4) All contract workers have been terminated. Interns have been told that they won't be receiving PPOs.
5) Senior Management Has been asked to take 20% paycuts. 
6) Even at Junior level, people have been asked to take pay cuts or resign.
7) Lots of tools used in tech are being removed and AWS subscription has also been revised.


Meanwhile HRs have been celebrating on slack channels that Yubi has been ranked in Top 25 companies for career development :/

The reasons cited were economic slowdown, other companies like Microsoft, Flipkart, swiggy, Amazon doing the same and cost cutting. I think things are getting toxic and the majority of employees have been left disappointed.

It's gonna be long thread. 

I have been working as lead engineer in a early stage startup since last one year. 

Founder (20 years exp in Product Management) raised some money from friends & family to start it and but company was running negative from February and he put his money to pay employees salary for March & April and We were hoping for some investment in April but that didn't happen. 

During May & June, he was looking for funding more aggressively and even after having a good background in academics & top tech work experience in product management, no investor got convinced to invest in it. 

Our salary for March & April was delayed from actual payroll date by 7 days and 21 days respectively and We were expecting our May salary to be delayed by same period and our company was about to complete one year in first week of July so we had some one year benefits associated as well. 

But Boom, he invited everyone on call and tells that company will shutting it's operation from next day itself. And he will help us find our new jobs and he doesn't any clarity on pending salary. 

Although we knew, our company is not in good shape so salary cut or something might be happening soon but didn't expect this. 

Now, we have to find other jobs and also be unemployed while searching for job and also get exploited by other companies because we will be desperate to find jobs to pay our bills. 

I think, he did this just before 5-6 days of our one year anniversary just because he doesn't get legally bound to pay our one year benefits. 

I for sure, not gonna join any early stage in future who doesn't have enough funding. 

Just wanted to put this story out of my mind. Open for any suggestions you have for me

Startup let go Eng team on 1 day notice

So this lala shop that I'm working for wants to be a billion dollar company but doesn't believe in clearing salary arrears. 

This drama started around March this year just before the appraisal. The employee portal was shut down citing some "updates" and later they slyly updated terms and conditions related to appraisal in all of our offer letters. The outcome of this was although we were told that the salary was raised but we still received the old salary for 3 months (April, May, June). We were informed the arrears would be created by September. But no updates. 

It's November and still the HR is silent about the difference that they owe to us. 

What's the best way to tackle this situation? Of course I want to leave this company but not before I take my wages.

And even joined another company which i resigned from this july. Right now i am on a break from work unemployed due to medical reasons. And i really got some amount today as salary. I am confused - my F&F was settled last year only . can i contact someone at Cognizant ? did they do a mistake ?

Hey folks, so I am a 2022 graduate and I'll try to make this short as much as possible:

* I was giving interview at a company for backend dev
* Over the period got promoted from MTS to SMTS with CTC correction from 12.8 to 14.74 at my current company
* Last Friday did the cultural fitment round
* After following up got a call from HR saying they'll update me by this weekend
* However I updated her with the information regarding role change and CTC correction
* Now she asked what'll be your expectations
   * First, she asked whether I could shift with the same CTC, but I was hesitant, she took it as no.
   * I asked what is your range? She said there is no range
   * I told her as per market standard, she said I'll take 30% to herself as of now

So I need help here: 

* what can I tell her? Or should I tell her something before the weekend or not?
* Should I ask her if it'll be senior role as I am a SMTS now?

Also, this is the current salary  range as per Glassdoor of this company:

* Sr. backend: 25
* SDE: 15 + 6

Additional info for my current company:

*  My manager said that my base will be matched with SMTS in April which is 18-24
* Also heard the news that the company will not give appraisal to anyone in April

Got promoted during an interview, what to expect as CTC?

I resigned from HCLTech on 28 OCT. After that I got my oct month salary. But they have put my Sep salary on hold.

After raising my concerns, they informed me that they would place one month's salary on hold for employees who are on notice.

Is this policy also being applied to other employees?

I find this to be an unacceptable practice.

 But one interesting thing I have observed is that many organizations are now deliberately making the work environment more pressurised and/or toxic to reduce the headcount so that they don't need to layoff people.

Layoffs started in April which are still continuing. CEO says in all hands that reason for many people leaving Yubi is not because of cost cutting, also says they are going ahead with hikes & bonuses.  On last day of June payout when hikes/bonuses were expected HR announces that hike/bonuses will come in July payout. Diplomatically they just told that some people will get 0 hikes/bonuses. They want project to Go-live in 2 months but can't complete hike/bonus process in 2 months ?

Very high chance that they will give zero hikes/bonus to all employees this year.  HR recently started this shoot out thing where names of good performing employees is called out. What for ? Are they giving any benefits to employees? Vacation leaves are reduced. CEO lies openly.

 They just  seem to be making fool of employees.

I understand that companies want to start new year with new energy. But doing it in the last working week of this year is just nuts. 

Let folks enjoy the year. Do it in Jan first/ second week. 

By doing now, you’re literally spoiling this year and the next. 

To founders out there: grow some spine, tell your investors you won’t do it now. I don’t think it’ll hurt your company much (I mean you’ve not done enough, and that’s the reason you’re in this mess, probably suck it up and wait for few more weeks) 

To the folks out there, who got impacted, my heart goes out to you all. Good luck. Market is tough, but I know you guys will make it.

[rant]- What’s up with startups? Sudden layoffs in literally last working week of this year

They  opt for dec, because its quarter ending. The books will appear cleaner from Jan and that  quarter will look better when it ends.

It has nothing to do with new energy from new year.  Its like they clean the old shit to prepare for new shit.

So I joined a startup on Oct, 23(6 months completed).  They are struggling to raise funds. From Jan, they started layoffs from ops and customer support, went to major cost-cutting: no tea, snacks, giving the floor to rent, restricting the leaves: like for leave, you have to get approval from HR and the CEO, not the manager.  I'm in a tech team, and multiple products are lined up for release, so work is there, but ultra micro-managing. I'm getting opportunities but I'm not sure whether to switch or not. 

I leave my last job in 5 months due to their funding issue. That's why I'm skeptical to leave or not. 

Would love to hear advice.
