growthwise nothing comes close to SDE and dev , but network eng is like next , it has more growth than SRE , Devops and other roles . So its kinda like in the middle . I know network and cloud engineers that make 50LPA plus .

Hi friends, I am working as a network engineer for the past 2+ years. As a network engineer I do work on shifts ( mostly night shift ) 
I am bit confused here, Whether to continue in the same field or switch to another technology.
Can anyone help me like what will be the future of network engineer also the career growth in it.
And what package I can expect after 5 years in network domain.

I am seeing a lot of layoff related posts everywhere from news articles to LinkedIn.. Is the Job market really that bad now? Or just the media is projecting that way? 

If it's really bad, which department you think is the most affected? How's layoffs specifically in India? Or is it layoffs in US but more hiring in India due to cost cutting? 

Are layoffs in technology/engineering dept as in for developers or some other departments? Your thoughts please..

It is really bad right now 
 1. Layoffs in many of the companies, irrespective of whether they're a startup or a big MnC. 
 2. Almost everyone I know of wants to switch, because of no/less appraisals from last 2 years 
 3. Bad work life balance - people thinks switching might help 
 4. Too much competition for any open position. Because of too much supply, companies are low-balling and people would accept the offer.  
  
 Recruiters ghosting is too common. Even if you've killed in your interviews and recruiters get someone who's ready to join on less pay, they'll simply ghost you.

Hey all, i was thinking of making a switch now after completing 1.5 years roughly (the while process might take 3/4 months roughly as i need to prepare everything from beginning). Was confused between joining an established company vs a startup.

I personally want to join the former as i want to focus on other interests of mine and am fine with less salary but with less stress and working hours.
My friends are suggesting to for the latter as im still a beginner and should focus more on learning.
Im not very passionate about software development but i would say im av+, what would anyone of you would have done?

Need advice for Switch

How the current SDE1 and SDE2 will get accomodated in IT industry in future. Hear me out. Currently lets say there is a team of 10 members in one of the IT company. Lets say 4 are sde1, 4 are sde2, 1 is sde3, 1 is teamLead. Now in future since higher positions are very less, how these 4 sde1 and 4 sde2 will get accomodated. In past years, for those who are currently at manager+ positions, when they were sde1/sde2, at that time number was low, so they got accomodated easily in growing IT demand. But now it seems there are already too many IT companies, seems very low probability that count of IT employees in total of India will even increase by 10-20% in next 5 years. Every year lakhs of IT engineers are also getting graduated. They can get that sde1 positions, but what about current sde1 and sde2 ? Do we need to find another career ?

Whoever comments, please explain in detail your thoughts. Need some discussions to decide future career path.

Tech stack - java backend

I want to just reach 28 lpa by September next year with role of sde2 equivalent as i would be having 4 year of experiencel

So hello Everyone , 
A short intro , i am a 2023 grad , fumbled a 32 lpa SDE job in last round in college placement . I was among the last 2 out of 500 students and the other guy got selected or you can say i run out of luck.🙂
This left a scar ,guilt and trauma, however got placed as a cloud engineer during last week of my college.

I always wanted to do development and create stuffs . 
My current role is more of a support so now I want to switch .
Yoe :1 year 2 months 
Salary:9 lpa (7.5 base)
Fully remote 

i had solved around 220+ questions on leetcode and had a good grip on DSA but it’s been a year since i solved any questions there.
So now i will again start coding and solving leetcode from STRIVER A to Z dsa course and working on harkirat 0-100 development projects.


I aim to make myself interview ready at the end of week 5 while keeping my current job and then look for interviews during my notice period.
I am ready to take a leap of faith and grind hard .

I will keep updating on every Sunday about number of questions and development projects i worked on .
Hope it motivates you all to improve and get better at life .

I am going to use this  sub to record my weekly improvements .
 
I am open to any suggestions by my people here .

Hi , can folks here guide steps /suggest how to get SDE role at entry role . I regret giving 2 yrs a career for the civil services exam. I graduated with BTech in  2021 . If I had only sat for college placements at my Tier 1 college, I wouldn't have been living with regrets. I have been doing projects in the MERN stack . I also have skills like Postgresql, Trpc and am familiar with using ORMs and type validators like Zod . Since I had no previous experience at internship or full time , no companies are shortlisting my profile .
