Sometimes I often procrastinate on important tasks but it's not because I don't like it or have no interest in it, mostly maybe due to self doubt about my ability. 

What is your reason for procrastination, if you procrastinate?

4. Money (hardly 20-30k to register company)

6. Employees/Co-founders
7. External investment
8. Website/app
9. Social media accounts
10. Office location (register home as office)

Far too many people focus on needing xyz before starting up. Most of them are excuses and self-imposed roadblocks from what I've seen in my conversations with people.

I'm currently working on 2 ventures that still have many items missing from this list. Doesn't really stop me from making revenue and profit.

Sure, there may be some things required from this list for specific businesses and at diff stages. But they are mostly an extra, good to have but not required.

What is required in copious amounts is courage and will power, willingness to face rejections and ability to withstand multiple failures only to get back up and try again. Also, a healthy enough risk appetite.

I hope to see more young and talented folks (especially MBA grads) start their own thing some day. Best time is in your twenties and early thirties, when you have little to lose.

The obsession I regret the most in my life is the all or nothing behavior.

Where, 
- I'll apply for a job only after knowing everything there is to know for a role.  This is why I used to see people with half my knowledge applying and getting jobs and moving ahead in life. I used think it's so unfair that they achieve in all aspects of their life and I in none...
- I'll date someone only when I know I am the perfect version that I envision for myself 
- I'll only take photos when I am in my perfect shape. If I don't have 8 abs, I don't deserve photos!
- I'll stop questioning whether I am good enough only when I achieve everything else I am a loser

I just was very cruel to myself for my own imperfections!
This instilled a fear in me that shattered my spirit, self confidence and self worth.  I ended up being afraid to pick anything up. 

If I couldn't stay course in something and for some reason I wasn't able to do something for a day or 2, my perfectionism mindset said, that's it, I am a failure and I thought, nothing can be done now and gave up

This resulted in I procrastinating in things. 
Why to work hard, I am never gonna make it...
I have 100 things to do in life else I am failure but I don't have time to do all that in this lifetime. Perfectionism results in not doing anything!

After meeting people, self introspection and podcasts from people, I realised its okay to mess up, its okay to fall down. I should dust myself off and continue! 
It is so hard now to change yourself after years of disappointment. You need so much positivity and letting go of perfectionism. You need self love and kindness... 

TLDR -
Don't be like an OCD person obsessing over things to go exactly the way they want!
Don't reject yourself due to failures/setbacks. Dust yourself off and move ahead!
It's okay to be imperfect as long as you promise to be consistent!

[Controversial Opinion] Don't chase perfectionism chase consistency. Period!

I did not grow up in a lot of money. I ordered looking at the prices on the menu. This feeling has stayed with me and has fueled me to thrive, push harder, work long hours and get to my goals.

I'm 5 years into my career, and last year I had a feeling of "making it". I had enough to not look at the menu, or even the place I'd be going to. This feeling is really really satisfying and I took some time to sit with it, enjoy and bask in this glory (humbly).

But I also feel my drive to hustle and do better has gone down. For instance, I'm okay pushing work to tomorrow, I'm not as keen to pickup work.

I feel some of graveviners could relate to 'making enough' story. Have you also feel a lack of hustle to keep you going? What do you think is the reason?

For experienced folks, I'm really keen to know how to get past this slump.

Do you feel lesser need to hustle after making a decent amount of money?

I felt this once I sold my startup. Through my other investments I have enough to not work and make whatever I spend passively. Got my own house, private office and a decent car. Family pressuring to get married. I felt a void though as I was like for what should I work?  
  
 And then I saw one random youtube video of a guy, I think he was some famous personality but I don't know him. He said he works to be "useful" , not to earn money.  
  
 That changed my perspective a lot. I thought why does Mukesh Ambani work? He has to be useful to take millions of people ahead in life. He can retire tomorrow and not have to worry about money for his 7 generations.  
  
 I started thinking about ways I can contribute and that led me to forming 3 new companies. I now have a "purpose". Feels nice to get up and have some aim. And its good that its not money.

I am 23M working in a well renowned Fintech startup. Have got what I have dreamed of in college like high ownership, good pay and other similar things. But lately realized that I can't do these things for my majority of life. Although I enjoy my work but still feeling lonely and aimless.

Previous to September it was remote but now they have made it hybrid and I have to reallocate to Gurgaon and now I am feeling more lonely and aimless in life.

Have tried travelling and other stuffs inorder to find interest in life but nothing excites me.

What to do in life? Feeling aimless

I am 27, and I have a well paying job in Bangalore. 

I want to quit this job and try my hands on entrepreneurship. I feel like I can do much more than what I am currently doing and have a more fulfilling life this way. 

Unable to see a lot of risks I have a 2 yr runway with savings. Parents don't have financial dependency. If everything fails I can restart my life in the next 1-2 years. 

Looking for perspectives and things I should consider before taking this step.

Continuing on my last perfectionism post, stop waiting for the right moment, the right anything hoping it would come someday. Hoping that you would find your knight in shining armor outside your house.

If you don't actively seek opportunities, if you don't take chances on people, opportunities, moments how will you know?

YOLO, take matters into your own hands and better make it count!

Well written but unfortunately I am on my way to have 6 beers one after the other

Just putting it out there. 
If you quiet quit and decide to focus on finding another job.
If you have other priorities like fitness, family or other things that are more important to you than advancing in your career.

Whatever your situation is, breathe. But do not procrastinate or lose hope if some interview or anything doesn't go well.

Consistency compounds. Remember that.

Note to self: Even doing the bare minimum takes effort.

My friend runs a small offline tech community in hsr, bangalore. 

They meet to build stuff, launch in public, have small mixers and do demo days to showcase builds.

I'm working on a project but feel I'll be bad at demos + launching

for me. i spent college studying for grades and 20s making money in a job I don't like, but never got to make the memories I should've with all my friends. I regret doing all of that

what is your worst mistake professionally?

If we are spiralling, let's spiral right

1. Focused solely on grades in colleges
2. Thought Campus placements were ultimate goal
3. Spent 3 years in a company with 5% increment (once), because it was comfortable
4. Scared to ask even minimum budget while negotiating salary
5. Overthinking every step, still not taking actions to correct or fuck up anything
6. Major major regret - not taking risk of starting own. It also has to do with parenting, but lets not blame.
7. Ran away from public sharing - speaking, athletics, all extracurricular activities for that matter. Kids grow up with zero confidence and looking fat & ugly. (I'm not fat shaming, some fat people look 🤌)

I'll add more, there will be more for sure 😂

Ok now, good tips on how to stop procrastination and actually get stuff done?

There's no 1 answer to it. It cannot be solved in an instant. I attend therapy to deal with issues in my life. I find Procrastination a single most disastrous thing in my life.  
    When discussed, I was told that focus on self Discipline. Here are things i was told - 
 1. Try to make a timetable which has all the indulgences you do(netflix etc) and also the work you wanna do, experiment with time tables to understand what works. 
 2. Try to get to root of the problem when you procrastinate. Find out why you are doing it. I do it knowingly as in, I am consciously aware of it. I am now in pursuit of finding why I do it when I do it and sticking to a plan I make. 
 3. I have made a note of how harmful Procrastination has been in my life, how it has affected so many aspects of my life 
 4. Procrastination is a way of dealing with your emotions so that you get the immediate dopamine hit instead of a reward far later in your life. So, I am told that it's like having a relationship with yourself. You reason with yourself and understand why you are procrastinating, what emotions are you feeling that is making you procrastinate and how do you solve for it! Remember, being hard on yourself is just gonna make matters worse! Always do truth seeking for these things, be kind to yourself. Little by little you should be able to navigate.  
  
 Unfortunately without knowing what kind of Procrastination you have, it's not advisable to take up my points. I suggest consult with a therapist and talk it out and solve for it!
