I have always worked in NCR or remote. I'm talking with a startup based in Bangalore for a switch. The founder had invited me to spend a day with team, get to know the work and culture. As luck would have it, I had an work event at Bangalore, so took the opportunity to visit them.

Work is great, culture is good as well - lot of fun jokes food getting shared while work gets finished. The team made me feel at comfort. 

Between chatting with (future) colleague, I look up watch and its 7.40 pm. And my Delhi woman alarm goes 🚨 🚨 anxiety of if I leave now, when do I reach hotel, will I get an auto/cab, how will people be on the road, is it safe, are there street lights???

I usually left office in Gurgaon by 6.30 pm, especially in winters it gets dark early. Also the safety concern has office structured like that.

But their team was usual, unaffected. Seemed weird to me.
Is it a norm? Will I have to get used to it if I accept their offer?

Hi am a fresher working in an IT company as SDE intern. Wanted to know if most of the Indian companies follow strict schedule? This is because I have heard people doing 9-5 job. Often they are having meetings after 5pm and sometimes working on even Saturdays. Does this thing holds for Service based companies like Infosys, Wipro, TCS etc or its true for FAANG or famous startups as well?

So, I joined this company located in Delhi last year from Bangalore as a permanent WFH employee. Initial 6 months were fine, even though I was aware they had pre-installed tracking software called "Teramind" while sending  the laptop! But in the last 3 months the work culture or environment has completely flipped and turned into Toxic.

First they made us install a remote tracking software called "Hubstaff"  which tracks keyboard and mouse activity and time, and takes 4 screenshots every 10 minutes.

Then they made it compulsory 8 hours a day excluding any break like lunch or tea.

This month they tied work hours with Salary and started deducting the entire day's pay even if you are short by like half an hour!  

Almost all employees know they need to leave but are kinda stuck due to the current job market situation.

I'M thinking of quitting without finding another job now, I'm just mentally tired and frustrated with the situation I find myself in. All my emotional energy is spent, I just don't know what to do😞

Hi All, 
I think with funding winter, the work culture in Bangalore Startups is becoming toxic day by day. In my company, it started with filling the daily time sheet of what work we did, then why do we need work from home( Company gives 4wfh/month), then a circular came today that every data filled in timesheet will be minutely checked with card punches, can't be late even for 5 minutes more than 3 times a month. The hypocrisy part is employees are underpaid(5-6 LPA for software developer) and overworked(9+ hrs/day).
I got to know one more startup where they have normalised 12hrs/day 6 days a week working and if you work less, it will affect negatively. They force their employees to reside nearby to the office so they can work till 12-2am from 10.30am.

Is it common everywhere?

Is 9-5 a myth in India?

Total disconnect... most of us do not work 40Hrs a week -every week.. sometimes its 60hrs some times its 20.. but the main requirement is we need to pretend to be busy. That's what's defines a hard worker in our country. 
productivity and efficiency gayi baad mein.... if you  finish your current work, you  need to find the next. or you can continue the current work for as long as possible.

I am not comfortable with late night work but my team is mostly related to delivery boys so i am required to do night deployments and late night work which leaves me with brain headache in the morning and scattered sleep.
What should i do and is the software engineering about late night work only ?

Is it the same in product based companies or is this one an outlier? Additional context: the overall company size is around 30-40 employees.

I moved to Bangalore few months back and started working for a manufacturing resource planning SaaS company so I don’t like the work culture over here they have six days work week and sometimes I work overnight also due to this reason I have zero social life and I am pissed off from my work also cannot upscale myself. ￼ Whenever we say that we need Saturdays off the CEO says that after funding is raised the Saturdays will be off it really doesn’t make sense. ￼ also people over here or micromanaging every time asking for every Nick of details. I am annoyed with this shit￼

Working from office is really bad for me

For me 5 - I start by 11 and end by 7 but take an hour lunch break, 4-5 tea/coffee breaks and some gossips - I tracked one day and it was 5.2 hrs.

I have adhd so I don't (read : can't) work until 2 days before sprint is about to get over then wrap the stuff up with anywhere between 8-10 hours pn both days.

I strongly believe if companies reduced work hours to 6-7 hours a day it’ll increase in individual’s moral as well as productivity, what do you guys think? 
Currently my shift hours is 9 hours a day traveling to and from excluded which leads to 12 hours a day, which gets hectic sometimes.
