Finding it difficult to transition back to full-time as companies only keep considering my previous CTC based on my full-time role, though I was earning much higher through freelancing. 
How do I negotiate to be compensated fairly based on how much I was earning as a freelancer?

I have 8 years of software development experience and earning a decent salary, but contemplating to slowly transition towards self employment.

My skills are mostly in backend engineering- building web APIs and distributed cloud services. Are there opportunities available for such a skillset? I have observed it’s easier for frontend engineers and UI/UX designers to get freelancing opportunities as compared to backend engineers.

Any thoughts on career transition from full time at big companies to freelancer? 

I have 5.7 years of exp of FSE. and would like to settle as freelancer in near future. 
I want to experiment this option for 1 year and if not succeeded is it okay to switch back to full time emp? Is it worth taking the risk considering my financial status? 

I see these are pros and cons
Pros:
Complete wfh.
Direct contact with clients no boss/manager

Cons:
Income will be effected if no project. 
Continuous search for projects. 
Risky. 

Any other pros and cons one can think of pls mention in the comments. I would definitely try this option for atleast one year.

First year of brand marketing job for an early series, well funded fintech startup. 

My previous (first) job had ₹45K (5.5LPA) in hand after a role upgrade, but for this job I had to move out of my city, use up all my emergency fund, have a LOT more expenses now and the in-hand came up to just ₹51K (6.5LPA + 1L bonus + esops)

Had no leverage at the time of signing so didn't say anything. 

The real kicker? I was hired as part of a strat change that the founder pushed for, and my impact has been immediate and undeniable. Our metrics doubled within 6 months of me joining and we're a respected brand in our vertical. 

I am doing gigs on the side to start rebuilding my emergency fund coz salary se barely kuch bachta hai.

I want a comp revision before the appraisal, but too nervous to ask for it.

Could use some advice or just tell me if I'm being a dumbass for having these expectations

Hello everyone, currently I am in a service based company earning 9 lpa as a frontend developer(React) for 4 months. Before that I was in Tcs for 1.5 years. I am not happy in the current project. I have freelanced on upwork earlier and maximum reached $20/hour in development gigs but got burned out by constant pressure of rebidding once the current project gets over. The profile is still 5 star rated but getting full time job through these freelancing platform require lots of marketing and bidding and it’s difficult with day job. However recently I have seem trend where there are some genuine folks such as harkirat who are upping the game by earning around 5 crore annually through posh remote jobs. Has anyone of you tried pursuing that route by reaching out to founders of early stage startups on twitter/linked in or used freelancing portals such as upwork to get full time gigs which pays more than $100k remotely. If yes please share some guidance.

Been working for top product companies for 6+ years as a software developer and currently product manager.
Motivation earlier used to be learning etc but right now its mostly money where i am currently at.
There is no skill growth, just applying what i already know, days are busy which doesnt give me any time for other things ( upskilling, side projects)
Explored the market and have found freelancing role that lets me 
1. work remotely
2.Gives me opportunity to work on latest tech stack ( frustrated with not being able to code in my current job)
3. Lets me control my time as fixed hours are billed and you can commit hours ( might work only 20-30 hours a week and reclaim the rest)

Thinking of transitioning but not sure as we are fed to work in good product companies and look at service/freelancing in bad light.
I feel like most of what i needed to learn via my job in product management, i have learnt already and feel like not being able to code as much is making me outdated as a builder.

Tldr: good job that pays well but skills are not growing, another option is to turn to freelancing, earn 70% of what i currently earn but helps me upskill, gain control of my time and maybe experiment with side projects in remaining time

Hi fellow designers, I am a brand & graphic designer who worked at a smaller design studio for the last 5 years or so. I am now looking to join an in-house brand team in a big start-up/corporate. In my previous company, since it was a smaller design studio, I was getting paid less compared to what startups and corporates pay their designers.
