GenZ are the most diverse generation (accelerated by growing up with the internet since we were 4 years old) and you cannot generalise by saying 'this is genz' because no matter what, not even 30% of us are similar.
  
Yes, we run after validation on Instagram. And yes it's unhealthy. But it's not fair to single us out. Older generations have also been obsessed with TV News, FB and Twitter. No need to deny, we all know.
  
GenZ also more openly talks about mental health and we call out things which the older generations just accepted as 'aisa hi hota hai'. Think Gender Inclusivity, Harmful Climate Practices, Running after only Salary, Marriage and Kids, Jobs where you're not treated with Basic Human Dignity, Shitty Mental Health, etc. 
 
We're conscious about prioritising our mental health, even though it's tougher for us than ever before, so we're sorry if our calling things 'toxic' annoys you a little.

We're all extremely concerned about Climate Change because we know we're the last generation which can fix this.

The Genz who have recently graduated out of college and just started off their jobs right of college via campus placements meaning they have missed the COVID bull run significantly because they had little to no source of income back then to invest. I was suffering from 2-3 mild health issues in metro. (prolonged cold n cough, regular sneezing etc)

Came home 🏡 in diwali and now extended wfh due to health gain. Living with parents and consuming clean air + food is helping improve my sleep quality as well ❤️‍🩹 (2h+ deep sleep) 8h continuous sleep.

I did cost benifit analysis and have decided to work on a plan which will eventually help me settle down at my birthplace within 2-5y. 

synopsis --

Children's play under sun 🌞 and have group of 10 kids. They ain't worried about anything. Their happiness index > ceos.  
  
They don't know about masturbation till 10th or age 14 if they don't have a smartphone.   
  
My workplace is open and aqi is below 10. Strong peepal and banyan trees 🌴 even 100y old. When I feel stressed due to any reason I just go to see sunset near my place hardly 2km away. It's a stress buster with earbuds in and watching migrant birds crossing river.  
  
Ain't those birds more free and independent than us? Like they don't give a damn 🕊️ about future and enjoy the present.  
  
Very less car and almost 0 traffic ⛔. People still use bicycles and cycle repair shop>garages.   
  
Life is slow and peaceful. People go to sleep at 9-10pm and wake up at 5-6am.  
  
Life is too easy. Cost of a family with 2acre land is hardly 25k/m here.  
  
Sometimes I wonder why chase 2 lac/month sacrificing so much in a so called developed city.  
  
Society is ambivert. Pizza 🍕 🍔 burger biryani is trying to enter these areas.  
  
But I don't miss swiggy.

Toughest part is to find better half with same mindset. 
  
 I travel frequently and have covered whole india except 3-4 places like Andaman, lakshadweep and NE. 
  
 What I have noticed is gen z is very high on drugs and manyatimes they have 4-5 digit savings even after working for 4-5y. I am not generalising or against it, they can live their life the way they want but it's the harsh reality. 
  
 Can anyone live without malls, clubs, multiplex and junk food nowadays? 
  
 Anyone on same boat or think like this or have any other perspective?

Just wanted to know why and how come our companies have horrible WLB and cultures compared to western counterparts. Is it the fault of the employees for accepting whatever and acting like sheep or is it just the mindset of the senior management to treat their subordinates the same horrible way they were treated as some sort of sick rite of passage ?

Why do Indian Companies / Indian management have horrible work life balance and cultures compared to others  ?

Saw a similar post somewhere from an European and I think it’s pretty valid for India.

For context, I am in my early 30s, a home owner, living in tier-2 city with a pretty high salary. Recently got married and my wife also works as an Enterprise AE for a listed US company. Our cost of living is pretty low given the house and tier-2 city. Even if we had a kid, the overall cost of living will not change a lot. 

I got to where I am, economically, by a combination of hard work and luck. Luck definitely was a huge part of it. Knowing the right people at the right time, working on the right technologies helped a lot more in advancing my career a lot more than grinding for good grades. Even the ability to buy a house without much debt, was partly because I was lucky to sell my shares in a fairly small startup. 

It would be easy to say things aren’t economically bad based on my own experience or that of my close friends. However, when I look at things more objectively, I can’t help but come to the conclusion that we are screwed as a generation. Except for maybe the top 1%, salaries are not keeping up even with inflation. Housing costs, specially in tier 1/2 cities are unbelievably high even if you want an average apartment. Jobs are no where to be seen. The whole generation is living in the hope of the stock market rally never ending. This seems completely unsustainable as a nation. I might be doing well for now, but I still recognise how these are real problems for most Indians, who’ve been waiting for India’s century for 20 years

Given that the services industry contributes more than 50% to the GDP, the current state of joblessness, the overall sluggishness in IT and related sectors, and the fundamental changes happening to the way IT services now work, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a complete recession in the next 4-5 years.  

Lately, there has been a lot of criticism of anyone expressing anger on how bad things are but I think it’s helpful to talk about this.

Is it possible for those doing well to still acknowledge how our generation is screwed economically?

Great post, I was thinking to jot down something similar.     
 The way I see is that our generation(I'm Gen Z), is financially fucked due to 2 main behavioral changes:     
 1. Increase in consOOmerism: We're zoomer consoomer. GenZ is known for show off culture. We will buy the latest and greatest phones on EMI every 2 years. People spend thousands on sneakers, bags, branded clothes.     
 2. No Savings: People are no longer saving money. My then girlfriend used to got mad at me in market when I tried to bargain. Its considered a turn off lmao. People find bargaining bad now... like I'm looting a poor guy. People don't realise how much our parents sacrificed and bargained everyday to save money.

Hearing alot about GenZ not being serious about work, lack of expected manners, careless about impact (these are not my opinions) etc, i was wondering this is the reason why 
a) millennials are able to save their jobs bcoz their managers are used to of certain way of working 
b) freshers are not getting jobs as it was 3-4 years back, even out of top colleges! (Source - Latest IIT placement reports)

is it true or i am just being optimistic that my job is secured? 😂

I travel a lot and meet many people while traveling.
Foreigners as well as Indians. That's the best part.
It helps to learn about foreign culture and also explore my mind while traveling places.

But I have 1 thing in common with Indian girls nowadays.

Most genz Male have saved in 6 to 8 digits at age 29-30 but most girls don't give a damn...they are really living yolo life and doing international trips, buying useless gadgets, mindless shopping bla bla...

Basically, I want to ask-

Is it just male responsibility to think about future plans and have enough cash flow to not get in the debt trap of home car etc or should women also think like this?

PS - Above statement is for most of women and not all, so dunno take it personally.

The US is in its late stage capitalist phase, a ship that's going to sink for the next 50 years. If you're a young person there it doesn't make sense to work as hard as your Grandpa the reward on average isn't as great. 

India on the other hand is poised to become a great multi-trillion $ economy.

Onto something huge. We're talking like 10x growth of the economy here.

Start-ups that have made it like Razorpay, Swiggy, PayTM, even Cred, if they survive will be really huge as capital in the country, liquidity and lifestyles go up over the next 50 years. 

Be the capitalist, take the risks, make bets, work and stack up promotions and money.

Don't join an Infosys and work 70 hours there, do it for a start up of any scale you believe is going to make it. Or better yet start your own.

Work hard and build in India 🇮🇳

I'm tired of this bullcrap. India will not keep growing if the US goes under. And all that growth shit is exaggerated. Divide those numbers by our population and it doesn't amount to shit. 
 All your fancy startups don't even combine up in value to even a single big tech company. 
 Yes we are growing but the inflation is also going up. On the whole I barely see any improvement.

What if I have close to 10 lakhs + in cash.
Can I start something in these cities which can at least generate a monthly income of 40/50k for a sustainable long term.
If not what’s the capital needed?
Please note I don’t have any business prior expertise
Uncertainty in tech sector has left me stressed.
I need a minimum of 45-50k to sustain.

I need some ideas.
Lets discuss.

Some sustainable income streams in tier 2/3 cities in India?

I have saved up close to a lac from my Internships, will be starting FT soon. I was thinking of YOLOing my entire savings by buying Zomato shares.

I really believe the company will grow multifolds in the future, also I won’t have qualms if they don’t do well and I end up losing my money.

I feel it’s better to take a bet on this as the money isn’t really significant and is better used if Invested somewhere. I might just end up wasting it buying AJ1s, Airpods and all that expensive stuff.

What do you guys think about this? What’s your view on Zomato’s future?

PS- No Index funds, MF advices pls. I’ve done enough research and will Invest once I start getting monthly salary from my FT Job.
