Yeh imposter syndrome hai. Hard relate. SNAP OUT OF IT, it is not gonna do you any favors tho. It will just impact your confidence and that will impact your performance. Everyone around you in bschool is an idiot, with inflated confidence and a brave face. Fake it till you make it is the mantra. Dont doubt yourself! I did the same thing and I have now screwed up my career. I am your ghosts of career future and I command you to believe in yourself!

Sorry Guys for the rant just wanted to vent out something 
I don't know what to do in the future. Feels like I am stuck. I am not from a tech background. I did my B tech in Mechanical Engineering and secured a job at Vedanta( In their shitty Steel Unit). It has been 3.5 years and I am stuck in the never ending toxic cycle. I work like a donkey but I never got.any recognition for my work.
Thought of going for an MBA from a top college only. Tried CAT 3 times but couldn't secure a tier 1 college( Last time was getting some Baby IIMs but thought of giving one more try and now I am fucked). 
Neither any career growth nor any learning growth is happening. Tried for a switch but not able to grab any opportunity. 
Even my CTC is too low ( Approx 65k per month) and being a 26 year old guy, when I see people making multiple lakhs I feel sad and dejected. Should have gone for CS during undergrad

If anyone has any suggestions, or some guidance please share. I can't even share this with my parents, they just brush it off. Again sorry for this rant.

Hi all, I got an admission call from IIM Bodhgaya. I would like to try again next year for better IIMs but my family is scared to lose this chance to join an IIM. Since Bodhgaya is one of the newest IIMs, is it worth it to join or better to try again next year?

Specifically a question to all the t1 tech clg grads (mainly software engineers) earning 1l+ pm out of clg with a lot of scope for growth. Post mba avg salary is 1.5l per month. 

I can understand ppl desperate for a career change and non tech ppl who are underpaid and don't really have ab option but it baffles me why well paid folks would shell out 30lakhs kr take the burden of loan just to learn how to appear smarter than you actually are instead of investing it for a meagre salary increase that can be achieved by job switches.

I'd love to  hear any insights about ppl who've already been in the space. Why u did, salary PRE post sector etc

Why the heck do people do an MBA?

People, who gone through the journey of GMAT, tier-1 MBA college India or US, how do you assess whether or not to join a early stage startup right after college, does it affect chances of getting in? keeping in mind I don't come from engineering background or tier-1 college.

Also, where did you study for GMAT? I gave it once after prepping for a year to score around 650. Any recommendations?

I am deeply worried, to the extent of feeling depressed, about my career trajectory. I feel I made a mistake by switching tracks via doing an MBA with 10 yrs exp. I was a QA for a decade and tried a lot to break into PO roles( worked in a product based org on mobile apps for 6 years). It did not work and the director of PM advised me to do the one year fulltime MBA. Not sure why I gave in to his advice, but I gave GMAT and began with an 18 month Full time program at a Tier-1 Bschool. Cracked placement in the first go but got into IT services( not in WITCH), and now I am stuck being a PMO for a client.
Even when I look at my resume, I see a crappy profile, everything is disjointed and makes no sense now. No wonder I get no calls.
I don't want to go back to QA, this Project Management work is shitty( cannot see any learning happening, but the client is happy so I'm stuck in this project. )
I want to move to PM, thinking maybe CSPM can help, not sure where I am headed. 
Any guidance for this middle aged dinosaur 😞

Should I go for MBA in top 10 b schools india like IIMs, XLRI, SPJAIN, etc

So a little background about myself. 

I graduated in 2023 from a tier college and managed to get an off-campus job in an investment bank as an SDE. 

My current salary is 24LPA.

Would it be beneficial for me to do MBA from the above mentioned colleges

Like would the placements there be better than what I have currently? 

Also if I can save enough money in 2 years would a MBA in US in a top 20 uni be better than MBA in IIM? 

I will be going for further studies sometime in 2025 or 2026.

My main goal is to improve my salary and build a network. 

I have also managed my own dev agency and did freelance projects in the past 4 years. 

If anybody has gone through the same please let me know your experience.

Should I go for an MBA?

I have done my MBA from a tier 3 institute and find it a little difficult to make into strategic positions in my organisation. 

Has anyone found themselves in a similar situation in the past ? If yes then what was your roadmap to get into strategic positions in your organisation. 

Does the second MBA ( especially an executive one from tier 1 institute) make sense. 

Would love to listen to different perspectives here.

Does a second MBA make sense ?

I have “hustled” (whatever that means, most times I feel like a fraud) my way to a 60 LPA (no ESOPs and non engineering background) after 5 years. I’ve also realised that the job market has become pretty flat and degrees (ofc there are exceptions) don’t really matter once you have a foot in the door in the “ecosystem”.

However, I feel considerably lost (more existential maybe) and have been contemplating an MBA abroad for quite sometime. BUT, I don’t want to take money from my parents and I don’t want to exhaust my savings on one degree. 

I’m not thoroughly “excited” about networking or just partying for two years and don’t feel very strongly about moving abroad either. 

I think a foreign MBA just feels like an escape at the moment. However, I don’t know how it’ll solve anything to be honest, since I’ll still have to deal with the larger questions around purpose, what I stand for etc etc.

Any thoughts?

I think I'm being lowballed. Not sure though. Non tech Product Manager for 3.5 years. Total experience of 11 years. Tier 1 MBA after 6 years of working in the core industry.

Current salary is 29L.

What should be my salary?

Overview: 
Everyone around me, be it old school friends to the people in the bangalore startup ecosystem are planning to or already in the process of doing an MBA. 

What is happening:
Most of the people I know, either are going for a tier 1 MBA in India or colleges like “Carnegie Mellon”/ “INSEAD”/ “NUS” these are really good places. 

Why am I concerned:
I dont have great acade, GEM candidate so I have decided to not pursue CAT at all, and MBA outside India is too expensive. 

I feel like my job and career are going fine with 4 years of professional experience I am making 25LPA in marketing. I am not keen on doing an MBA but I dont want to regret later.

I consider myself to be fairly smart but what happens when I am competing with people who have great brand names on their resume and are actually smart. 

People on GV with more experience, have you gone through this struggle? 


Sidenote: I also have friends who have cleared IIM ABC, ISB and not gone, because they just wanted the admit letter. Which is brave lol!

Just got to know recently that a tier 1 mba college didn’t conduct interviews as part of their admission process during covid. Just CAT scores sufficed. 

In addition to this, post admission, these batches didn’t have proctored exams, they could collaborate and solve the exams together and then submit their answers online. 

Please do reply if this was very common during Covid across other colleges and any other such crazy lapses across colleges.
