Is it wrong to speak my mind??

I was having a good time, while drinking with 2 of my best friends who were with me since engineering, and one of my friends suggested that I need to modify the way I speak when I speak to women who I might be interested in, as I am someone who do not have much of exposure to interaction with womenkind. I had a passive argument that I try to speak my mind instead of modifying it to appeal them or make it right in their way. He said that ‘this is the reason you are single’. I felt bad, not because he said this but he has little understanding of me on how I express myself.

I always believe that, if i try to butter my words or convey the things that come to mind in a more appealing way, then the girl I’m trying to be with will subscribe to the version of the way I am expressing my feelings rather than the way I am feeling. So it will end in a disaster any way.

Am i wrong here, what should I do?

I’ve never been in a relationship before so please suggest me it my thought process is wrong
