This isn't what I signed up for. At all. I really want to quit but I know I have a long way to go until I get a new job. 

I don't even want to go through the training and the change management, no motivation left. Honestly, it's not a bad company. 

But I hate this role. So much.

I'm a lead engineer at a small-mid Indian Saas company. 
Been at the company for more than 6 years (total yoe 8+) and used to like the company and culture, alway top performer.
Had been managing my team really well, mentoring them.. 
juggling multiple projects, reducing tech debt, improving developer experience.. 
and I enjoyed it.

Now the company is trying to transition my role to more of a technical product manager where I have to think about how to improve the product, new features, take customer feedback, understand business analytics, usage, adoption, iteratively improve and deliver value.

I'm not sure if I'm ready for this role. 
I hate this MBA shizz.

What should I do? Try to like this, work on it and ace it?
or let my management know that this is not what I signed up for..

I feel low at work because I'm not able to meet my expectations (let alone my manager's)

Feeling lost in my current role

I am preparing for the Staff engineer role. Have put my resignation without any offer in hand due to being highly underpaid, no recognition towards my high-value work, poor management, toxic work culture and work-life balance.

I lose all my motivation to study gauzing at the things I am yet to study for the interviews.

I don't want to settle with another mediocre company and stay under paid just like today.
At the same time I don't have any monetory reserve to feel safe on financial side.

Please help me with your words and past experiences of being in a similar situation.

I have the worst luck anyone could imagine. Recently joined new org, the project for which I was hired got shut down and now I am being moved to a role which is not at all what I signed up for. Currently working in Supply Chain Management specifically Warehouse Management. 

I am so fed up with this on floor roles. Want to work in role where I get to use my brain. Going to learn programming. No idea how to start. Can someone help me in finding a path to a better job.
For me a better job is anything that pays more than 7LPA which is remote and the skills required are in demand and can be learnt in few months.

So, for some context, I recently joined my new company about 4 months ago. I was previously working at a well known design studio and wanted to try out product companies.

My manager is very bossy and literally micromanages everything.

Things they do:

1. Has 2 1:1s per week. 2 fkn 1:1s every week. One on Tuesday and one on Friday just to check up on how I'm doing and there is literally nothing to update during that time. I mean I'm not going to make any significant changes within 2 days. My time gets wasted and I've suggested that I don't think we need two calls like this but they dismissed that point.

2. Does not know when to diverge or converge. If we are approaching a deadline, they are still in an exploration mode and constantly ask me to explore more. Being super unrealistic. And then randomly call me out by saying, we need to wrap this up quickly after asking me to explore more. Like tf?

3. Most importantly, super confusing in the sense that they contradict their own opinion in the same call and all the calls end up with no conclusion. Do this using X method, then next day they say why are you using X method, you can try Y method too bla bla. This happens every time and I'm left speechless every time. I get on calls with them to get clarification on my issues but end up getting more confused.

4. Gives feedback and expects it to get implemented. If I say no or suggest a better alternative, they become defensive and pin it on me saying, I need to explore more etc. I do explore a lot but there should be a full stop to when I should stop exploring. Also, literally anything I do has to go through them, and they have to give unnecessary advice even when the work I am doing is coming to a closure.

Every Sunday I dread that the next day is Monday. Feeling very down off late, what should I do?

Alright I’ll keep my rant short. After working insane hours for an year or so (and learning A LOT), I started exploring other jobs with better pay and work life balance. I came across model risk management (validation/governance whatever you call it) and it seemed interesting to me. I took it, and it turned out to be a big mistake. Although the pay is good, but I don’t think I’m learning even a fraction of what my previous job offered. 

I’ve been interviewing for the past 3 months and the extent of brain decay caused by a laid back job is getting more and more apparent.
The industry expects me to have certain skills which I clearly lack now. I wish to quit my job and do something that helps me build hard skills relevant in the industry.

If there is anyone who has worked in model risk management, I’d love to connect and understand their perspective.

I joined a startup a couple months ago and I get the feeling that everything is so..slow? These guys take months to get clarity on a single feature, and that too, not completely. Engineering team is extremely slow. Nobody is proactive which has started making me feel weird. They've been at it on a single platform capability for 4 months now and there are things that are still not clear. Plus my KT didn't happen so most of the time I'm trying to put 2 and 2 together. All of this has started making me feel so insecure. I spoke to other people in the team and they were like one of my projects has been going on for years.

Any advice on how to tackle it? I'm trying to see if I can switch since this is not the kind of team and fundamentals I want to work with

Huh! So i resigned from my job without any job offer. I am not sure if this is right/wrong, dumb decision maybe but i was at my saturation point. I joined this organisation as APM in April 2024 and resigned in September end, almost a 6 months of journey. This was a fast faced startup with a lot of micromanagement and toxicity. My manager was an asshole. There was a time when i was filling time sheets which was just to justify my manager. Imagine a product manager filling time sheet who is already involved in multiple small and large discussion with tech,qa, marketing, operations etc. The shift was of 9 hours and he asks me to stretch to 10 hrs sometimes as he as a bad habbit of same. There is much more. One day due to an instance i decided to resign without any job offer. My family did supported me which also gave me the confidence to do so. I don’t know what to say to next companies. When will I get a new job. Just wanted to share this somewhere and thought of putting it up here. Open for all your thoughts and comments. Also,Let me know if anybody could help me in any referrals😅preferably in Delhi ncr- Hybrid/wfh.

Hello Everyone, 

I am a 2018 BTech (NIT) pass out and  2022 IIM pass out with a total of 2.2 years of Workex (1.2 yrs post-MBA) and currently working as an Associate Product Manager. I am not really enjoying my role and I feel Product Management is not suitable for me because of multiple reasons some of them being,


1. I am doing issue resolutions rather than problem-solving which I love to do.

2. I am not very much interested in driving technical discussions or solving technical challenges in the process of Product Development which is the case in my current role. 

3. I want to be part of a Business role where I can leverage the knowledge I have gained during my MBA and work on some problem statements related to the core businesses of the company. 

4. There is no skin in the game of a PM compared to Devs, QAs, and Designers. As a PM I feel I am just delegating, prioritizing, and following up with the requirements. Most of my learnings are around managerial aspects and not business knowledge. 

5. I want to be a part of business roles where I can go deeper into problems and come up with my recommendations/thoughts on them. 

I am looking for new roles where Strategy, Analysis and Core Business Problem solving are involved. I am really not sure what kind of roles are these. 

Please help me with the roles I can explore and how to approach the job search for such kinds of roles.

Lets discuss!!! I will go first -

I quit my last organisation (a famous UPI company) in 2020 because, they still are in old technology. No cloud computing, no kubernates, no terraform. Their entire baremetal infra are in 2 DCs (Mumbai and Bangalore). Leadership ideas are outdated. I was very much bored and looking for a change.

Why did you resign?

Amount of effort i put and the salary i got was not proportional. 14 hrs to get 30k salary as a fresher. I had understood that I deserve better - thus i moved to get better pay and better wlb (which I got in swiggy)

Hey folks, 

So I work as a product intern and have an offer to join full time as an Associate Product Manager at a Fintech B2B startup upon graduating. 

So cutting to the chase, 

Recently I have been under tremendous pressure to deliver a product. Our organisation does not have any senior product manager to help guide and I report directly to the CEO. I have been given far too much responsibility and an extremely sophisticated product has been put in my care. 

This product requires a lot of technical expertise and we do not have that kind of resources. I have put this point across to my boss multiple times over the past few months and he always says we will do it. 

He goes and promises clients that this product exists they even did a soft launch of this product when we literally have not built more than a few screens. 

Our company has a high employee turnover and people keep quitting left right and centre due to the Co-founders toxic attitude. 

Recently I have been feeling very anxious starting work in the mornings. Most days go late into the nights because the Co founders work in a different time zone. 


So the dilemma here is this, I feel the urge to quit this job but at the same time I am afraid that another opportunity will not present itself soon. They also pay me pretty well compared to other product intern roles out there. 

I know a lot of people are out there fighting for a product intern or an APM role and here I have it and am considering quitting. 

Please feel free to ask me any follow up questions and forgive me if it sounded more like a rant.

Hey folks. 
I am a PM with 1 YOE. 

I make a lot of unforced errors and have been in bad situations because of poor communication too. Although, I try my best to communicate everything and anything. The founder just hear me speak and not to hear specifically. 

I am gradually feeling, that maybe I am not good enough to survive in this role. 

On the other hand, I am pretty much interested in finance. Am above average in hard skills named as Financial Modelling, Financial Statement Analysis, Deal Structuring and Valuation Techniques. I read pre IPO papers to understand more about industries and sectors. Do financial modelling for the same companies to check if I am on the right track or not. 

How can I switch to a finance role maybe?  Or what other fields should I explore to get out of this. I have graduation in BTech.

[THREAD] Thinking to Switch from PM role

I am working as a Product Manager for a blue collar company within a large company. 
Although everything is good prima facie - good pay, work hours, people. However I am not intrinsically motivated towards the work.

Each day feels like a drag and I feel I am wasting my time here. The only thing which is holding me back is the great pay

I do not know what to do. Honestly want to take a break and chill to figure things for couple of months but then the thought of not finding a job or being jobless scares me.
The notice period is also 90 days

I am a PM at an edtech startup. The company is not doing well and my boss is not a good leader. Although company has a runway of 2 years. For the past 3 months I have been doing program management. No product management related work at all. No one appreciates you here. It's mentally challenging to work here. No road map for myself. No appraisal. I'm just going on the job for salary. For the past week, I have been thinking about quitting and taking a break. Then look for a job. I know the market is tough but I have runway for 4-5 months. I have a total of 3 years of Product experience. 

What should you guys suggest. I really need your help here.

Will tell in short, graduated from a tier 1 , joined a consulting firm 2022 but I really don’t like my work. It is most monitoring shit and I don’t like my coworkers to be honest plus I am very anxious / depressed I do take meds and therapy . 
Now I am thinking I should quit my job notice period is 3 months and start a fresh maybe somewhere closer to home like Gurgaon I am in Bengaluru currently. Or I should stay in current job and maybe I’ll get pip to be honest . I am also thinking of doing other jobs not related to IT because frankly IT sucks I hate sitting all day staring in computer screen

I hate what I’m doing rn. It isn’t interesting, and it consumes most of my day. I travel almost 30km every day to go to the Client’s office, and by the time I get home, I’m beaten and dead tired.

I want to get into a Full Stack/Backend role. But, I don’t have any time to grind DSA, or work on any side projects, or even my passion projects. I’m seriously considering resigning, and putting my head down and grinding it out for a few months to give myself a better chance to switch.

What do you folks think? Should I put in my papers?
