I have been working with Capgemini for more than three years. A coworker who joined with me received a promotion and good ratings during the April cycle, while I am still at the default rating of 3. Now, for the October cycle, when I asked my manager about a promotion, he said that I will not be promoted unless I do something exceptional. Although he is not my N+1, he mentioned that, as a manager, he will not give me a good rating even if I perform my best throughout the year.

Can someone suggest something, please?

I quit my last organisation (a famous UPI company) in 2020 because, they still are in old technology. No cloud computing, no kubernates, no terraform. Their entire baremetal infra are in 2 DCs (Mumbai and Bangalore). Leadership ideas are outdated. I was very much bored and looking for a change.

Hi everyone, 2023 IIT Grad here, working in ServiceNow since July 2023. 
Current Base: 15L
I have around 7-8 months of experience here and over a year of experience at Startup and Servicenow being a Software Engineering jntern, at startup, I was almost a full time, leading projects on my own. 

I recently had a 1:1 with one of my teammate, he is couple of years senior and has a base of 24L. He told me you have been working really good, so in this upcoming March, you can either ask for a promotion OR for a good hike. 
I have heard, in ServiceNow, promotion or hikes happen only once a year. 

Then I talked to someone with 7-8 yoe, he told me it won’t be good to talk about this when you have just joined that is, 7-8 months ago. He said take whatever they give you.

I need community’s views should I talk to my manager about this OR Should I let it go? My friends at other companies are making 20+. I didn’t sit for placements because of PPO. 

Please advise. Thank you!

I find myself in a rather perplexing situation at work and could use some impartial advice. Currently, I am employed at an Indian e-commerce firm where I have put in a lot of hard work. However, during the recent annual cycle, I was not promoted, and my salary hike was disappointingly meager (CCTC 14.5LPA). Naturally, I expressed my concerns to my manager, who advised me to wait until the mid-cycle as my promotion case would be reconsidered then.

In the meantime, I actively sought out new opportunities, and I have received an enticing offer from a Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) firm with a significantly higher compensation of 24LPA. This is substantially more than what I'm currently earning, but less than my expected CTC that is around 28-30LPA.

The confusion lies in the fact that my current firm has now initiated the promotion feedback process, and it's possible that I may get the promotion soon. I'm now torn between two choices: do I stay at my current job, potentially get the promotion, and then reconsider switching, or do I seize the opportunity at the CPG firm with the better financial package?

I understand that both options have their pros and cons, but I'm finding it challenging to make a decision on my own. Any advice or insights you could provide would be immensely helpful in guiding me through this tough decision-making process.

I started my professional career with my current organisation 3 years ago.

I'm considered as an technical expert on terraform, IAAC, AWS serverless within the organisation.

I've extensive working experience in Python, various AWS services, GitHub pipelines and have high degree of confidence in my ability of this tech stack.

Also I've recently contributed to architecture of multi tenant GCP infrastructure project while developing whole terraform stack and contributing some part to ansible playbooks.


Apart from above mentioned technologies I've experience in Jenkins, Java, Kubernetes, Docker etc.

I've been top performing with Always Outstanding Quarterlyrating for all quarters. 

I'm expecting to get an increment in July with CTC increasing to 16 LPA along with promotion to Associate Solution Architect role this year.

But I'm bored with current work, it's a service org, no long term ownership of the work. Also feel that I can get more compensation if I switch.


Want to know perspective from people with more experience as if happens this will be my first switch.

I am working as SDE 1 in a good Indian startup. It's getting toxic day by day. Late night workings like 3AM and working on weekends is normalised like anything. Since I am new to IT ( no sort of politics never) and have almost 2.5 Years of experience, I am facing issues in getting credits. Last appraisal cycle in January, I was nominated for promotion but wasn't given to me, reason: you have not worked with architect and he was making decisions. In that case, architect should have been distributed tasks to us. 

one SDE3 is leading one of the projects ( not a big one ) and manager/architect is not much interested and never join any standup or retro, I have contributed immensely to that. Now since it is completely driven by sde 3 , he takes updates from us and show his work infront of seniors and director + announces like his work and seldom we get thank you in threads. Like if you did one function or wrote complete flow, for both thank you. Because of all these reasons, my work is not getting recognised. There is no one in team to help in this. 

Whenever a manager or Architect show cases some features or release, it's pretty evident that his team has done it but when a sde 3 does it, it is not the same. It conveys the message all or 90% work is done by him. 

I would like to take some suggestions from my seniors and fellow mates here.

Need help !! Toxicity at workplace

I am a backend engineer, working in a tech powered fashion company. 

Total experience: 3.5 yrs
Current CTC : 24 lac fixed, 12 lacs ESOP in 4 years

I joined as a software engineer, this April I will complete 2 years in current company, but Manager saying promotion might not be possible due to current situation and less promo slots available. 

I have been quite a good performer last 2 years , building a crucial project from scratch and handling everything alone due to short staffing. There is sole dependency on me for that project and company has ambitious golas with that project this year. Recently got SPOT award from skip manager as well.

Only talked to manager last week , although we had made a promotion action plan few months back for my promotion this cycle and I meticulously followed every points in that plan , manager doesn't seem to be fighting much for my promotion, although he always says in my face that I am his star performer.


I am really upset with this. What should I do ?? 

Talk to skip manager? Consider switching company ? 

Please suggest me. Thanks. 

P.S : work culture and wlb is good here. Also as I have the complete ownership of the project, I learn as well.

Getting anxious when I look at CTCs!

Recently got a hike of mere 2%, even after working day and night and delivering projects on time.

I was hoping for a good hike and a promo. Some politics from business and HR really screwed my case. 

Should i talk to:
1. HR: Raise the issue and tell them that i'm unhappy and make it official
2. Talk to Manager, now that genie is the out of the box, I don't think they can do much

How do you end up dealing with a situation like this?

In TCS i have 2 years as of today.

I am a software engineer with 1 year of professional experience and about 2 years of experience counting all my freelance gigs as well as internships.

I’ve identified that I’m good at picking up new technologies easily. I’m also very detail oriented and tend to find the moat optimal solutions even though my current position only expects me to follow the PRD provided by my tech lead.

I find that most of the times, I have had to raise my concerns to my seniors for a change of an approach with me being correct almost all the time by the end of the discussion.

Now I feel confused, that maybe I was being underestimated and therefore underpaid by my employer.

Context: I switched to this company about 6 months ago with a package of 12 LPA and got a mere 5% hike to 12.65 LPA during last month with a promotion from being a technical associate -> software development engineer.
During my meeting with the manager, i was told that my performance was ‘very good’ but since its been only 6 months, they are giving me a promotion to match my skills but not give me a good hike.

Any thoughts?

Hey people working in Accenture, can we see how many of you got increment /promotion in June Cycle. 

I am currently at L11. I was at least expecting some increment. My manager told us that nobody got increment. Only people who are promoted got it. They are giving the same excuses every cycle.
Do you think if we can/should raise our voice for the same. I don't know what to say when they just throw these kind of excuses at us.

It literally is the worst company to work for. I am so done with Accenture. There are no rewards for you even if you do a good job, so better don't do it only.

Please share your experiences.

Accenture Promotion

So I was a top performer in my team, and the most tenured after my boss. My boss still wouldn't praise me enough or give visibility of my work to his seniors. Guess he was always insecure that I would shine brighter. 

So I decided to take my boss out by putting him under significant stress by making his role irrelevant. By simply DOING HIS WORK

I started doing his work and and making decisions he is supposed to be making. Specially during a week when he was gone - I pretty much acted as a pseudo boss for the entire team. 

The final nail in the coffin was I somehow setup a meeting with my boss' boss and told him exactly how poorly managed our team was and how insecure my boss would behave. 

6 months later my boss looked outside for a role and exited the company

And this performance review cycle I still did not get the promotion. They're saying they'll bring another manager above us but they haven't promoted me.

I have 6.5 + YOE and have a CTC of 20L (fixed + bonus)

How do I achieve parity with regards to salary? 

My next appraisal cycle is in March but obviously due to the economic conditions my company might not give me a great raise even though my performance has been good this year. 

Any suggestions?

I am currently an APM with a startup. Recently completed 1 year in my current org. 
Total work ex: 2years
In my prior org worked as a product analyst.
Current comp:23LPA

I am unable to decide when shall i ask my manager for a promotion. I have completed 1 year as an APM and done pretty well in my current org.
I am working on a highly impo/prestigious project. Earlier thought to ask after the project would be successfully implemented but now i feel that might backfire as the success of the project is unknown.

What do you guys suggest?

Someone two years junior from me gor promoted, ps different team same manager.
My manager told me I am very good technically but need to grow on other aspects, did not told me what are the other aspects. He told me they will promote me once the project I am working on ends and my performance is good.
Disheartened!!
Worked my ass off last year, took initiatives even though no support from the team.
