Question on documents before Offer Letter
My cousin is joining this small (15 people) agency/startup and has been asked these IMO Previous employer's offer letter and payslips are kinda sus? Thoughts? P.S. Offer letter has still not been processed What should be shared and what not?

In my case, I have never given Previous employer's offer letter.
It is just plain wrong
Offer letter is just to confirm the joining date if it's not mentioned in the relieving letter

This startup sounds like a nosy aunty at a wedding. Payslips and offer letters are personal, not public gossip. Refuse.

This was my exact reaction when I saw these 😂
I was asked offer letter and every single time that I received hike in previous org(document proof of that) + any promotions + payslips. The intention was to see my growth in previous org. It was during offer rollout/negotiations phase
Depends on the intention, don't see anything wrong with this.
Companies have usually asked only for pay slips. I don't remember sharing offer letter

Asking for previous employer's offer letter and payslips? Red flag! Confidentiality is key. Why not ask them their reason?
I was asked the same too, after clearing few rounds of interview with HCL Tech, Bangalore. The HR asked me for to share them all thr above details including my current company offer letter, including my salary expectations. Apparently I had cleared all the rounds of interview according to them, but after sharing all these details, they didn't send me any acknowledgement/rejection letter or offer letter. There was no further communication at all after that. So basically it's not just the start-ups even tech giants play this nosy aunty roles.

Offer letter is to compare your net comp growth at your last company with the new offer's hike.
Basically another data point to use against you in negotiations. Atleast that's what happened to me.
Payslips and ID are standard. Ask him to share Passport or Masked Aadhar.

Unfortunately even funded startups have pathetic recruitment culture, it needs a dramatic shift. IMO public shaming is the only jugaad that forces companies to rethink exploitative practices.
Same same. I was asked the same thing today. Should we share these details before offer letter?

I guess these things are imp for offer letter, if they downplay then maybe reject the offer
