People are being more individualistic in their thought processes and that is prioritising oneself first. This was inevitable as this is a result of natural progression in the society ie moving from joint family system to nuclear ones, women joining workforce, commodity driven world and many more factors.

I personally believe that there's just too much advice going around these days mostly from Instagram reels and all that is so contradictory that people get confused on what's the right one. In the end, they chose the ones promoting isolation and namely 'self respect' ones. Every other reel you look at is talking about self respect, yes it is important but there are situations when the term 'self respect' is just not relevant mtlb there's not even a need to bring it up coz it was never in question but now that I've seen a reel about something slightly similar, my brain thinks my self respect has been harmed and I need to cut this person off.

Working at TCS has been nothing short of a disappointment. The so-called "job security" they boast about is the only thing going for them.

Job security alone doesn't pay the bills or bring job satisfaction.

My pay package is so laughable + there is no room for career growth here. It is almost like they want you to stagnate, my managers know so little that I can only think that the smart people leave and only the mediocre remain at TCS.

TCS is a place where dreams go to die. I joined through TCS Ninja ~2 years ago because Amazon revoked my offer and that was my biggest mistake.

I am preparing for FAANG again now.

Mostly these idiots end up fucking up company after company creating these neo-casteist groups sucking off and living off each other.

This identity based hiring is the start of corporate politics. I still don’t understand how difficult it is for fucking idiots to understand that while hiring for most roles you have to encourage diverse backgrounds at the start of the process to help you hire the right candidate for the long term, specially in a startup. 

PS I’m not against preferring candidates from certain colleges if it’s relevant. What i do hate is this herd behaviour of trying to hire only from your alumni the moment you are given leadership roles.

It must be such shitty experience to work under idiots like these if you are not from their alumni colleges because their biases play into all evaluations they do about their teams.

This is pretty common, has been like that for ages. It’s their company and their rules. You also have the freedom to NOT apply. Maybe they have had better experiences with candidates from top tier universities. Remember getting into most tier 1 colleges is itself difficult and only top talent make it. Also get better academic infrastructure, exposure to alumni networks, etc. So there are high chances they will do well. 
  
 Doesn’t mean that candidates from non-tier1 universities can’t excel. Some can be equally good or even better. Maybe these guys don’t want to take a chance with this role.

   I am in infrastructure engineering domain, want to transition into core backend with full stack. 
   I have roamed around abroad and found really great quality of life -
   1. Food quality is damn good!
   2. Spending power when you travel with that currency to other parts of the world
   3. Disciplined
   4. Power of people, where the rules are same for all. You are just as powerful or weak as a politician in regards to upholding the law. 

I like these concepts and want to explore living abroad, learning cultures, traditions and people. 

I was thinking of getting into a Europe based company(understand the pay would be less but I get to roam EU countries with better work life balance) for my backend role and leave my current job to prepare for it as my entire day is sucked off by this current high paying job and it's not fun anymore

I always looked at her and felt she is so beautiful, charismatic, and had an infectious smile. Looking at her made me smile broo.

Chapter 1
One day I decided to ask her out. I messaged her and our conversation grew then she spilled out that she also liked me a lot. And she was glad that I asked her out.

Chapter 2
She had studied in an all girls school and she had a stereotype about boys that they are all stupid and bad. And girls and boys should never be together. I was fine because atleast she liked me 😂. One fine day she asked me to break up with my brosss. I asked her why?
She said your friends are all playboys and I don't like the way they look at me. (Disclaimer: My bros are really nicest guys and I have known them since childhood they are the best gentlemen). We had an argument which didn't end on a good note.


Chapter 3
I left to a new state for my Job. After I reached there she messaged me that we can't talk and we have to stop whatever we had. I got anxious and worried and spent my 5 months not being able to contact her. I got into depression. Then me being restless on my birthday I came back to my hometown. At exactly 11:59PM when my bday was going to end she messaged me "Happy Birthday". I was so happy to see her message.

Chapter 4
We started talking and she said that she is leaving to Canada for her higher studies. I was happy for her but at the same time I was sad. I didn't want to see her go. We both cried and stayed on call till morning watching each other sleep.

Chapter 5:
She reached Canada and she completed her formalities and procedures. We talked for few more days but then eventually she started giving me hints that she is not interested. Then one day she abruptly messaged me and said we can't talk and we have to end everything. I cried the whole night, because there was no way for me to contact her and she had blocked me.

Chapter 6:
It has been 1 yr to that day. Somehow I have gone numb. I'm slowly forgetting her.

She left me.

Chill. After 5-6 years you will laugh on yourself that why in the world you gave so much importance to her. There is no derth of good women in this world. Moving her away was god's plan, for your good that you might never understand. Take Care!

A lot of folks working at startups seem to be "passionate " about their job. Some of them possibly, truly are. Some foolishly reverse engineer this passion because they're paid really well and they've been doing a good job and it's good personal PR to say "passion".  A few reality checks.

1. Your cool Bangalore lifestyle is a result of investment risks/bets taken by VC's .

2. Your salary is as much about the market demand as it is about your " passion " and talent.

3. Startups will generally lower the bar for hiring processes to meet their demand for talent. Why need so much talent? Because the startup  needs to spend that 100M$ Series C that just made them a unicorn. That's how they convince the VC to give more money. "We are going to 2x revenue by 2xing our salesforce and buying 10M$ worth of Saas that will increase our productivity by 5x. " And boom ...100M$ transferred into you SVB bank account.

4. You are as replaceable as a garbage bag on your dustbin. The HR is probably flirting with 10 other like you over linkedin.


5. The "values" this startup apparently espouses are mostly nothing but a honey trap and positioning to lure talent.

It's great to have a nice tech job that pays well and allows you to gloat on twitter like a techbro but don't let it fool you into getting an inflated sense of entitlement. You're probably living on borrowed time....and money. :)

And by the way, if somebody else changes my mind, I'm fine to this.””

Grapeviners, can you, with all honesty convince a non-believer like me into getting married and having children. If you do, my parents will send a million blessings your way. 

About me: 
- Female, 28
- mostly introverted, very selectively extroverted
- single and normally attractive
- Jinxed when it comes to relationships
- Financially independent, Net worth: 1 cr
- not bragging, but I'm decently intellectual and I can have smart conversations

My reason to resist marriage is: I'm scared it won't work out and will cause bigger problems than being single. Have seen too many unhappy marriages in family and friends. Dating scenes in recent times have only made things even more unimpressive.

Convince me to get married

After a few failed relationships, I had an arranged marriage (at that time, it was just to fulfill what my parents wanted). She was a very conventional girl,, never had any relationship before. I was scared going into the marriage too. 
  
 5 years later, she is the best thing that has happened to me. She helped me explore things I never would have. She gave my life a different perspective. 
  
 I'm not saying just because it happened to me, it could happen to you too. I'm saying unless you take the leap you'll never know what you're missing out on.

The company did around 10-15% silent layoffs in the last cycle by putting people in PIP. 
My Manager told me that he has pressure on him to put at least 1 or 2 people in PIP, make them leave the company and reduce costs.

Later, the company did as low an appraisal as 2%.

Senior folks are leaving specifically Frontend Developers.

Salaries of a lot of SDE-2 are below 30 LPA.

They have started new positions called Product Developers which will do the same work as SDEs but with a lesser package. PD-1 salary is around 10-12 lakhs and of Lead PD is 20-22 lakhs.

The company is putting itself in a position where it wants people to leave on their own.

There are almost zero perks in the company. 
The team outing budget is a joke which is 2k INR per person per year. That is 500 rupees per person per quarter. 

Also making office mandatory from November.

Good thing. Anyways their frontend devs and PMs were doing everything on Twitter except tech.

Is working on your own startup while in MNC a moonlight case, will it lead to serious blow from your company. Wanted to know the opinion what happens when your manager finds out that you also run a startup.
