Struggle to generate impactful roadmap
I have over 5 years of experience in product management and have worked with 2 companies in the past. On multiple occasions i felt that I am struggling with what to build next. Generating a laundry list of ideas could be easy but generating an impactful roadmap is something that i struggle with. Is this because I am incompetent as a product manager or other PMs also get stuck in similar situations, if yes then what do you do to come out of it?
Start with the metric(s) you want to move. Don't start with features. Say increasing revenue is your goal ; then list down features that can help you do that. Or if usage increase is your goal , rank order features accordingly.
There are so many things you can do but doing what really matters is the core job a PM. Even that means that a lot you won't do.
This is very generic, this is how I also approach but after few months getting big shots ideas become difficult and what comes into mind small micro optimisations

You are not incompetent.
I have about 15 yrs in product, and umpteen times in early career this was my situation also.
Everyone gets into this sometime or the other.
Whats next for customer service, oh where will my next sales pipeline be created etc.
