General life has become very tough. Long work hours, insensitive corporates, toturing traffic,  inflation that makes us believe no amount of money is enough and finally everything little thing in India is a fight. It's as if ,if one cannot fight he/she won't get anything.

Maybe it was there already but I wasn't noticing it earlier but now a days I feel just too much hatred and frustration in people for each other. I wonder why.

Guys, in recent days i feel so much Negativity around me. I am happy inside the home without any problem but after going outside and coming back to home, always negative things are happening. I told this to my one of the friend, he said this is due to people seeing you. He advised me not to go infront of people who knows me. Did you feel negativity in today's word? I feel that when you open up to people about your traumas and insecurities, people are only going to use it against you in an arguement.

While you might argue that not everyone does that, and I would be the first one to agree to that. But you somehow stop trusting everyone, even your shadow , when your favorite people become your most bitter life lessons. 

The one who feels emotions always ends up suffering more. In the hindsight, it feels as if being a bare minimum "good human" is a curse. 

However,

I have been using grapevine to vent out and connect with strangers and so far I have only met supportive and empathetic human beings (most of them). 

Despite being covered in the sheild of anonymity, most people have only been respectful and kind. 

This proves that we, as humans , are only meant to love each other. Hatred is futile. Empathy is inherent while hatred is "cultivated".

I hope grapevine founders dont stumble across this post else theyll start charging premium fees when they realize how highly people speak of this platform lol

It's been some time since I received some kindness from people. The last time I heard some kind words or got a kind gesture was very long ago. Today, whoever I interact with behaves absurdly without any compassion. The shopkeepers won't talk politely if asked about a product, the house owners will talk rudely and make random rules any day, people won't smile on the metro, in restaurants they will shout on the waiters and the list goes on. I am not even bringing up autowalas and taxiwalas. What does it take to show some compassion? How much does it take to compromise a little bit so that other person feels good about this world? Why does everyone want to just rip other off? 😞

What happened to the world?

I have shifted from banglore to my hometown in rajasthan and its lovely here. Greet everyone with ram ram /radhe radhe and people smile back greet back, its superb. I was missing this element in banglore

I have become bitter about this corporate work culture.
Had some terrible work culture in my last 2 jobs
This has affected me a lot.

Joined a new one, though it's good in terms of culture to an extent.
I have gotten into the phase of not taking phony talks or fake conversations .

It's getting hard to socialize, all I see is power play, insecurity and selfish motives.

I can't talk to everyone and mostly can't take the fake things.
This has increased more as I changed jobs and got older

All they say is communicate more , increase visibility.

Not sure how I will get used to things.
It's getting very tough as I gain experience.

I somehow feel this is affecting my growth.

Any suggestions to overcome this

Is it just me or people in general have a lot less patience and courtesy now ? 

The other day a young lad parked his bike right in the middle of parking lot entrance. I politely asked him to park to either side of the entrance and he acted as if I had asked for his kidneys. Rude in his response and offended for no reason.

Even in general I find the courtesy or politeness quotient go down over the last few years. There is more arrogance, irritation, anger and attitude.

Have you experienced the same ?

Are citizens more short tempered now ?

Really surprised to see the level of name-calling, personal attacks and poor use of language happening on a public forum for professionals.

I don't know how we came to this point as a country where you can't even have a civil discussion about topics without someone starting to abuse people for no good reason. It's the same thing playing out on other social media platforms as well.

Most of this vitriol seems to be coming from a particular section of people, and it's obvious to everyone. What I don't get is why they indulge in such behaviour when they could be speaking to their potential partners, employers, colleagues and maybe even future co-founders.

Do they not realise this, or do they not care? Why has mature conversation and civil discourse died such a horrible death in India? Who is responsible? Can this be fixed?

Do people here not realise their current/future employers might be on GV too?

Recently I was having a discussion with one "friend" which quickly turned into an argument and now I think we are done with each other forever.
The argument made me realise that the more we grow up, the more we firm the boundaries around us, we make it hard for people to enter into our lives. We stop making compromises, we expect things to happen our way, we stop accepting that even we could be wrong sometimes. 
Even more interesting is how we handle the situations when someone starts questioning our choices, our decisions, our beliefs, we become all defensive and never admit that maybe the foundation of all we stand for is incorrect and needs re-examining. 
All we seek is echo chambers and yesmen in our lives and that's where we go wrong. I wish people weren't like this, I wish I wasn't like this. Perhaps this world would be a peaceful place.
Sorry for the rant, but had to vent it out somehow.

Why is making friends so hard as an adult?

What's your biggest mistake that you made in college.

First of all, I don't support diversity recruiting. I think there are plenty of things that are completely unfair about it. I am GEM myself. I think there are some forms of diversity recruiting initiatives out there that shouldn't exist.

But god damn, every other post I see is someone whining about diversity. And even on posts that are not about diversity, someone finds a way to bring diversity up and blame it for all their problems in a tangentially related manner. 

It wasn't like this 5 years ago. It really wasn't. So what changed?

Some of the posts are just hilariously bad. A kid talking about how a recruiter told him not to apply because they're only taking diverse candidates? Many of you want to become Software Engineers or PMs. Diversity recruiting sucks, but it isn't the cause of all your problems. If you're too blind to see that, you honestly don't have the judgement you need to work in Tech.

People who are anti-diversity hiring need to go to a doctor.

On a recent episode of Nikhil Kamath, he says “Bangalore is famous for nice and welcoming people”. This is so very true to a large extent. Every city however has some outliers who tarnish the image by going extreme. 

I have seen a lot of posts on GrapeVine complaining about Bangalore and their people. People should understand that every native resident of a city carries a profound sense of connection and endeavours to uphold the cultural heritage of their hometown. And what better way to preserve heritage than to safeguard language ?  This is the reason I believe most non Hindi speaking cities try to impose their language on outsiders. 

All said and done, I feel language should never be imposed but at the same time it shouldn’t be ridiculed either. I’ve seen a lot of “Kannada” hate post and is disheartening to see it.

And lastly I appologize to all those who have had negative experiences due to a few troublemakers. 

TL;DR : Bangalore is a lovely city with warm and welcoming people.

I think these welcoming people are outsiders themselves. Actual natives hates outsiders and as per recent events they are trying to send back people, specially north Indians.

We have gone from Not being able to express ourselves ➡️ not being bothered to express ourselves.🤔🤔

Random thought

Nowadays it is very difficult to find people with a good heart, emotions, real love and respect. The world has changed a lot, people have no mercy, no love, no care and no attachment. All have become selfish, flirt, sometimes inhumanity... jealous..ego.. revenge. People have a sft mentality though they live in big cities. Where all the humanities gone????
