What's the one lesson 2023 taught you, how do you plan to carry that wisdom into the new year?

Hey GRAPEVINERS, I came on this amazing platform 2 months back and soon I got to know that even anonymously I feel awesome connection with you all-( The identity without revealing the identity), whether it's about asking for masters abroad or about product management, someone was always there in the comments with satisfactory response that cleared my queries .
Within 40 minutes, we are waving bye to 2023 , it actually taught me a lots of things -somethings were great ,somethings were worse , but whatever it is , that's making me stronger day by day , I hope 2024 will bring the best out of me as I am trying to work on myself and I hope guys it will be great for you too

New goals , New Challenges , New opportunities , New People , New life is waiting ahead!!

I was laid off last year, the CTC was reasonably high there (110k USD base, not practical in India ik... Maybe that's why they had to cut us off). That of course was quite a down time but I was happy that I had a lot of side projects in hand, and was up to date with the tech stack. It's something I learned, "A company is a company, nothing less or more than that.

Curious to know, what are your lessons from these times? That one thing you wish you told/reminded yourself before these lay offs?

To me, it would be:

1. Stay humble. Your salary or your company shouldn't define your attitude.
2. Keep learning. Find time for your personal growth.
3. Stay active in the community, be aware of what's happening. Be it good or bad, it can come to you as well.
4. Save while you can! Savings have helped me a lot.

P.S: I mentioned my base pay from prev salary not to boast about it, there is nothing to boast about tbh
... It's just to mention more context.

I interned at a company for more than 10 months.
Gave my heart and soul to it
They made me work late nights, gave me so much work
I completed them all
And now they denied a full time offer citing budget reasons
I feel like a loser now. This is so not fair. Now placements at college are also over so theres no hope left
Completely loss of words.

Let me start by listing mine
1. Get into shape 💪 - I’ve set a target weight for myself, and a target muscle mass and body fat percentage 
2. One book a month 📕 - This is something I’ve tried over and over but never seemed to achieve.
3. Delve deeper into devops 🔄
4. Complete a few side projects I’ve had in my backlog for months
5. Quit smoking 🚭
