Competitor trying to poach

Hey folks,

This competitor's CEO reached out to me recently and we talked for an hour.

In the end, he asked my current TC which was quite surprising. He then offered me a 100% hike + 10L esops.

Although the offer is tempting. I have a problem. There is a Non-Compete clause in my offer letter for 8 months.

How can I tackle this? The CEO said that, if I make up my mind he will make sure that my current org doesn't know any of this.

Please help me with all the suggestions!! Thanks in advance :)

Is the offer genuine ? Many times these CEOs meet prospective employees to extract information out from the competition.

He shared the offer already. Also, I haven't shared any internal metrics so far.

Please make sure a competitor isn’t playing with your career just to make a point to your current management. These things can get ugly

@Linkedinpoweruser I have heard that you should take such offers because you actually get paid your worth while the current management does not value you as much?

How will he ensure the current organization doesn't know this? The news will obviously pass around unless your new organisation is something operating Stealth!

I am not sure about this yet. But as far as we discussed about this a bit. He said he would make me look like I am working at his ex org, he being the VP there, he can handle all this.

But again, I won't move ahead without getting a clear answer around this.

Btw, what if my current org gets to know the same? Is it illegal? What they can do in such a case?

Non compete doesn't usually hold up in law. Speak to your lawyer.

you will have to pay 8 months salary as fine. you should not have signed the non-compete.if you sign it's enforced.

Nobody cares about the non-compete. Have you come across recruiters that do care about it? Do let us know.
