Idea for a marriage app

I'm having an Idea for an open source marriage app. (Not a business)

Its made for youth, of youth, by youth for GenZ, Millenials who are not interested in the traditional constructs of society and is looking outside.

How many viners here can come together for this project. Think of it like "The Product Folks " community but for marriage.

  1. KYC Should be done only by the boys/girls. No parents/nosy relatives interference whatsoever

  2. Their likes and dislikes is hidden for others on the platform until the other gender initiates a conversation with them and accepts criterias mutually.

  3. It will have a bunch of mutually compatibility check sessions with feedback form for each other.

  4. No AI allowed on images on the platform.

  5. Fees collected from the customers would be solely for the maintenance and upgrade of the app.

  6. Equal or equivalent criteria for matching guys n girls.

  7. Proposing app name as Utopic !!!

Would love to know the opinions of other viners . @biryanienthu I read somewhere you worked on an idea on this space and would like to know your stance/opinions/other valuable inputs on this.

What's the target segment?

Men and women who want to break free from the societal standards of marriage.

Age segment - 25 - 35 (Bases on inference that career oriented folks men/women dont marry before 25)

IMO Its still very vague and not actionable. Try to drill it more. Try researching on user persona segmentation - it has to be very precise and should not include adjectives

Consider your pitching to an investor. Features and vision are there; but where is the revenue coming from?

Revenue is from the customers itself. This isnt for profit but if it scales well then monetisation can take place.

Because inherently, such kind of people are less in india who want to be truly independent on the decision making. Many want to be independent but lack the finances to act on it. Hence this is for a niche segment.

Also, money will be taken post match finalisation.

as the app name - its utpoic. far away from reality.

Marriage is something that happens between two families. Either there is a convenience for the family or the bride/groom.

This whole likes/dislikes is just a reason for the person to reject the other. How many women will reject an UPSC officer, or a big industrialist, or a doctor? How many men will reject a beautiful woman?

The concept of apps became successful because the joint family setup completely broke after 1960. With the internet explosion, it became easy for women to filter men , thanks for our skewed gender ratio. And the same apps started failing for many because both men and women wanted to marry only the top 5%/10%. result- everybody is rejecting everybody. To hide the individual fallacies, we come up with various reasons, mutual compatibility, likes, dislikes etc.
No matter how many apps we can come up with , they all will fail as long as the underlying cause is not addressed.. Men and women need to be realistic.

As a mobile developer who can write for both the platforms and as a guy always looking outside traditional constructs, I'm in.

Whats your thoughts on this ?

Why to open source?, if it works then it can have good earning potential. Plus these apps grow at a faster app in my view so deployment, data storage and automation costs might pile up too quickly as well.
